The guy with criteria absolutely can run away for 30 sec as long as he doesn't step out.

Under your proposal, he can't be put on the shot clock until after the other guy's shot clock expires.
And if he does that he can be hit with a caution and lose a point. I’ll acquiesce to your inability to see another persons point of view. Agree to disagree. The end!

But only ONE point, not two which is what happened to Beau.

The shot clock has always been a 30-sec stalling license for the other guy. Please point out any time where one guy was on the clock and the other guy got hit with a point-scoring caution while remaining in-bounds.

But under the theory that it might be called anyway: the guy not on the clock, still has no incentive to try to score -- no ref is gonna caution him 2x in 30 sec. So one guy gives up a caution, the other gives up a shot clock point. Rinse and repeat for another 30 sec, with no reason to expect a different result.

Unless you meant sudden victory, which you didn't say. And the refs start calling something they never have before. Both.

If you had said a one-minute period, with the first 30 sec on the shot clock, that would've been different -- although that creates an incentive to recover the shot clock point with a pushout. But you didn't, you said a 30-sec period.

There would never be a match that would go beyond the first period.

Seen enough freestyle to know giving up a shot clock point isn't that big of a deal. Just get the last 2-point takedown after giving up a step out and a shot clock point and one has criteria.

2-2 freestyle matches that end this way can be as boring as any 2-1 folkstyle match with two escapes and riding time.

The step-out with the caution and one, where the caution gave Nick criteria along with the scoreboard criteria indication error was unfortunate circumstance for Beau.

I can't imagine any wrestler really keeping track mentally of all the situations that would cause one to lose criteria in a tie, or coaches being able to effectively communicate them during a match. I guess that's why it's better to just keep wrestling and trying to score points.
