Let's see if I have this correct about Indiana on this board

When OSU has all kinds of trouble with Indiana, IU is touted as the second coming of the Joe Montana--Jerry Rice 49ers. But when Penn State whips Indiana by a score of 45-14, IU isn't very good and Penn State underachieved. Got it.

At least all of the national mentions of the Penn State-IU game that I heard yesterday were very positive towards Penn State and Saquon Barkley. This board is the only place where I have heard any sort of disappointment with Penn State's performance.

Think most saw the OSU-IU game showed that OSU is not as strong as expected moreso than IU is a great team.

Per the IU board Barkley is overrated. Eight in the box to hold him to 50 yards rushing. Long kickoff return. Pass for TD. Give up 300+ yards receiving and 45 points, but he is overrated. Rugrats board has a long thread about Franklin running up the score just before they got their a$$es whooped once again.

They have a football board? In any event, IU football isn't rated period. They don't rate consideration. As Obli stated elsewhere, "rear view mirror." Rutgres? What's to be said about that sorry excuse for a football program? Sad. Disgusting.

Rutger on the embarrassing end of a blowout, stadium emptying with each passing series, and they're paying so much attention to PSU. It's pathetic and laughable.

It's what delusional crybabies do. Yawn.

I hope you fellows and gals realize that there are factions on this board who will think IU is very good and other factions who think IU is bad. We should not draw the conclusion that the faction who felt IU was good against OSU are the same faction who are not concluding that the IU Penn State faced was bad.
I see this conclusion drawing reference being touted regularly. We are not all of the same opinion.
I think IU is pretty good but unpolished. Lagow was off yesterday because he was rushing his throws or this game would have tightened.

Indiana is likely a 6 win team. Their "super bowl" was the first half vs. OSU. Lagow came into the game banged up. Allen may have decided discretion was the better part of valor and opted to let him recover to 100%, since he wasn't especially sharp anyway.
Simply put, given the preseason hype and the talent returning to this team, IMO:
The special teams have been a big plus (with the exception of field goal)
I feel the defense is much improved, especially in creating turnovers
I think the offense is not as consistent as I had hoped for and what it needs to be for this team to repeat as Big10 Champs.

Indiana is a solid, not great team with a chance at 8 wins before all is said and done. Given way last year against them panned out and how much they had returning, I think anyone expecting some explosion in the running game was naive.

I also thought our guys looked like a tired team on offense after the 99-play workload at Iowa. The early jolt from special teams carried them to an insurmountable lead.

Still, think the bagging on Trace is ludicrous. On a day the D threw everything at Barkley and the running game, the passing game put up over 300 yds and 4TDs. Anyone finding a gripe with that, all things considered, is spoiled.

After next week Indiana should be 3-2. In order to win 8 games they will have to win every remaining game on their schedule with the exception of Michigan and Wisky. That's a tall order.

How many of these whiney posts about board whiners will we have today?

To clarify, I'm also including a bowl game in that projection but still think 7-5 regular season as quite feasible. They get Michigan and Wisconsin at home in addition to Rutgers while the road schedule is @ MSU ,Maryland Illinois and Purdue. Breaking it down, I see 2 sure wins, 2 likely losses and 3 toss ups.

OSU's biggest problem is they lose too many guys after their junior year. Anymore, they are always young and inexperienced.

OSU has 15 of 22 starters right now with junior or senior eligibility. That's not exactly a green lineup considering the quality of recruit they've been getting since Urban took over..

There was a loud mouth in our section griping loudly about Trace. He stinks this year, bench him and put in Stevens. There are some dumb people out there. It's amazing how spoiled Penn State fans get so quickly. Bitching after a 45-14 win. EVERYTHING ISN'T PERFECT, LIFE ISN'T WORTH LIVING.

I had issues with 3 plays from Trace yesterday. That's really it.

- Overthrow of Gesecki in end zone...which he promptly made up for on very next play with excellent throw to Hamilton on his first TD

- The INT.....awful throw but more questionable play calling on 3rd and 1. Also noticed that route was to Polk and very similar to three other plays in recent weeks that I don't believe have ever clicked.

- Taking a sack from the IU 20 back to the 30 in the 3rd quarter instead of throwing away (think this one resulted in intentional grounding). Less than ideal awareness there but probably important to point out a lot of what makes Trace himself is his ability to scramble and allow his WRs time to get open. Have to take the good with bad where a player like this is concerned.

Trace has spoiled this fan base way too much in one year....and yet, here we are at 5-0 with a QB currently ranked 19th in passing yards, tied for 10th in passing TDs and 25th in pass efficiency.

There is some sort of scheme Indiana uses in their front that gives us fits. My biggest disappointment would be along the lines that we just put "bad game tape" out there, and what that does to us going forward. Just surprised we didn't have an answer after last year; I mean, we need to figure out that look. They seem to delay their stunts just long enough that they arrive at the ball at the mesh point, which is pretty much what they did last year! That, and we really got zero push from the OL. I don't know, maybe we just don't match up well with their personnel in the trenches, IU's D-line is underestimated.

What worries me the most is that Michigan is the other team we had the most difficulty with along the LOS. We cannot afford to have a repeat of last year's game like we did on this one!

Nits have two weeks to prepare for Michigan. They did pretty good with that extra week last year.

Next time say something with meaning!

Do you mean that when one group states IU is good when they played OSU and then when some on here state that IU isn't good after they face PSU, it is alright for someone to point out we are changing our position rather than accept the fact that those are not necessarily the same posters. Mmmmkay.
Please grant me leeway, but these wild assumptions are a pet peeve of mine.

They paid a big price for going all out to stop he run. After halftime adjustments, Hamilton and Johnson ate them alive. I still am concerned about our OL.

Agree. I was absolutely positive that JoeMo would have an answer for the Barkley 33 for 58 game last year. The RPO was pretty much stuffed about 85% of the time that game. Very surprising.
