in a few series at the helm, Levis certainly showed he is tough and does not back down from anyone. actually. watching him I felt it is more likely he gets hurt than Sean. If Levis did get injured, who do you see as the # 2 behind Sean?

I wonder if he played any defense in high school? He is big, athletic, and tough enough to play LBer, and I'm not writing this as a veiled reference to Jim Kelly. It is more of a rhetorical than practical observation at this point.

Continuing to run the way he does looking for contact, he could be lost to a concussion for awhile. While I applaud his scrappiness in running, it would be good to have a healthy backup QB. I think Franklin may temper Levis’s enthusiasm to act like a fullback, and encourage him to make more hook slides to avoid head contact.

that is what i was thinking. he makes no effort to dodge anyone. powerful dude. a slide would be good. it was on one his contacts in the red zone where i wondered WHO is behind him.

I’ll probably take heat for this, but the kids a hard nosed football player. He’s probably not going to play in every game this year, so when he gets in he just wants to hit someone wearing a different colored jersey. Not the smartest idea but I can’t fault him for it.

Would you like Bengay, capsaicin cream or Tiger Balm to "rub yourself".

Speaking of “rub yourself”, did you ever apply one of the wonderful products described above in the wrong area by mistake? Okay even on purpose to see what happens!!!!!!
Thomas, you and I are at the age that experimenting with hot lub on the rod and balls is not a good idea. Possibly wind up in an ICU. Do not try this at home.

Why would you take heat for making a perfectly legitimate observation? He is definitely hard-nosed. I just hope he also has the makings of a good QB!

Most adolescents in those days probably did.

Levis throws deep ball extremely well as well as short touch ball. Coach should play him often to have fantastic back up. Roberson and Johnson need time to learn the playbook. Awesome talent at QB! They all need experience.

I made the point that the Levis/Clifford situation is a lot like what we had with Stevens/McSorley. The backup being very close in ability this is what we tend to get:
  1. Hard nosed running, like what we saw from Eury, to make the most of limited opportunities without concern for self-preservation.
  2. Occasionally a bad or inaccurate throw trying to make something happen, again the result of limited opportunities.
The reality is that Levis, like what we had in Stevens, seems to have the ability to make all of the throws. He has the size, attributes, and quick release that we see in QBs with a high ceiling.

I'm not saying that Levis is better than Clifford. I am saying that the two are probably very close in ability, and that selecting only one to play the vast majority of snaps presents some problems. There have been other years where we had a #1 and #2 QB that were close, but usually there were other differences that led to making an easier choice in selecting a starter. Lately it seems to be more about high school performance, class standing, demonstrated leadership qualities, etc.

I was talking to another PSU friend this morning. We both think he would be a killer free safety.
