I'm not sure who but they definitely hung with Randolph and Mortimer Duke. Rutgers game in '94, wet outside I think. My friend Chad and I pass this unbelievable tailgate with chef, etc only a few old couples. The nicest RV I've ever seen in person. They invited us over and it was unreal, steaks, beautiful marble inside of the RV, bottled beer, liquors. (No Bush Beer if recall). They were apparently big time Penn State Grads and Donors from what I do recollect but, unfortunately I don't recall much from those years, except my academic rigor and pursuits.

Shalom

I thought the Dukes go by “Peterson” these days.

Me: Lauren Williams (sliver medalist 100m '04). She asked me to hand here a drink from the cooler and I handed her a beer and said, "don't drop it". If you get that it's hilarious (she thought so as well, good sense of humor).

My Dad: 2011 AFC championship PIT v. NYJ at Heinz Field. Dad walked away from our tailgate to meet my sister. Never did find her as she showed up at our tailgate shortly after he left. He came back about an hour later and said he was with some Jet's fan at his RV. He tells us he was a big guy with a Hulk Hogan type mustache. He and his son were in from NY and huge jets fans. My Dad talked of how nice the RV was that they had some beers and talked about, "old school" football, Joe Namath, and motorcycles. Dad says these guys told me they make bikes. I put two and two together and showed him a pic on my phone. Yep he was hanging out with Paul, his son, and the crew from American Choppers. My Dad had never seen the show and they never mentioned it. I'm sure they were just relieved to have some normal conversation with a football fan.

I’ll be damn. I happened to have been at that game as well (MSU and Spartan Stadium is an underrated venue, IMO - and always a good time out there)

Anyway, also happened to have tailgated at that game w someone who would probably fit the profile of “most notorious/famous” (but I ain’t gonna’ say who :) )

Stormin' Normin Schwartzkoff?

Not at a tailgate, but I met Navarro Bowman”s mom when we were both pumping out the shitter in our RV”s before he declared. Really liked her, nice lady and pretty funny. I knew he wasn’t coming back, but had to ask her, “He’s coming back, right?” She looked me dead int the eye and said, “No.” I can’t do justice to the humor in her voice. She was awesome.

I m a huge Emily fan

A little Emily for you with then boyfriend, now husband, Martin pimping his Penn State Wrestling shirt in the background.

Here she is sitting right behind me in this pic from a PSU/Michigan wrestling match - I don't think anyone knew who she was (FTR those are not my normal seats). Her husband Martin is two seats to my left, their daughter was sitting in the empty seat immediately next to me but wandered off somewhere. Martin's dad, former PSU wrestler Marty Strayer, is sitting to Martin's left.

If parents count...LLoyd Engle.
Altho that was so long ago, I'm not sure if they even did tailgating back then.
And if you are a Penn State fan and don't know who he is...shame, shame.

I attended games for which Mr. Engle got us tickets but never attended a game with him.
But I do remember going to look at a herd of cattle with he and my father.

Franco Harris
Lydell Mitchell

Was invited to Franco's tailgate by a mutual friend. I was wearing a PSU polo shirt and Steelers cap so Franco and I talked for a while.

Ended up talking to Lydell for a long time. Great guy.

I suppose the most "famous" person I ever tail-gated with would be Tad Potter - part-owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1971 until 1975. His family lived across "The Valley" from where I grew up. His son - Terry, was in my fraternity; which is how I gained admittance. They owned one of those "space-aged" GMC motorhomes and hosted great tail-gate parties.
Don't forget Shlelds and Sully.

Not a TG, but my wife and I attended a PSU Fiesta Bowl and we talked to Randy Sidler's mom both going and returning to Harrisburg. Nice lady!

Not a tailgate, but I walked with Curtis Enis and his Ohio State buddies from about the tennis courts by Shields Bldg. to the opposite side of Beaver Stadium.

I was carrying three 1/2-gallons of Creamery ice cream from the Creamery to my car as I was parked in seemingly Bellefonte and I hear, "Who is Penn State's greatest RB ever?" Not thinking it was directed to me I just kept walking. Then I heard it again only louder.

So I look to my right and a lineman-sized Ohio State fan repeats the question and adds "Is Saquon Barkley Penn State's greatest RB?"

I said, "Not yet but he's on his way to being the best ever." I added, "I'd say either Curt Warner or Ki-Jana Carter" and added "Curtis Enis was a beast."

And out from the right side of the Ohio State fan appears - Curtis Enis. I then proceeded to tell that guy about Curtis' performance against USC in the Meadowlands and then chatted with Curtis as we walked.

Very nice guy. He was with his Ohio State insurance buddies he knew and they were walking to find some tailgate they were invited to somewhere over there.

What a forgetful person I am! Not once, but twice, the inimitable Tom McAndrew! He eats a Boursin cheesesteak like a cheetah on an antelope! :D I have MaconNitt & NovaPSULuvr as witnesses. It was awe inspiring!
