They're a huge matchup nightmare for us I'd think. Bucks /could/ take 25, 33, 41 and then should take 65, and big bonus at HWT. With cutch out we have an incredibly tall task. Need to take one of the 3 swing bouts at the beginning and get bonus at 49, 57 and 97.

Do we know what the results of the tests are on Cutch?

125-Low scoring match. Nico squeaks by. 3-0
133-Conaway over JDJ, who is not solid. 6-0
141- Christian Pyles sneaks back to the to warm up area to tell Guilbon to get his head out of his ass...making me look bad speech. It works. He beats little Jordan by major. 10-0
149-Zain pins 16-0. PSU fans start theory he is the son of Zeus.
157-Surprise! Beitz gets sent out and wins. 19-0
165-Coming out to the song Sabotage, Nolf scares the bejesus out of Ryan...sits Bo to protect his seed. Ryan starts whispering the 23rd Psalm to himself over and over.25-0
174-Bo launches Myles Martin for the first period pin. Dude who looks like Martin's Dad runs out on the mat and decks ref. PSU crowd blames Iowa. 31-0
184-Cael performs Miyagisun's injury fix to Cutch before the match. He goes on to heroically pin a gassed Courts 37-0
197-MM pins. 43-0
HWY-Feeling that they finally have a match they can win, the World Champ steps out onto the mat. An amped up Jan Johnson starts out in a 3 point stance and explodes off the whistle to deliver a huge forearm to Snyder's head...ref doesn't call it. Snyder forfeits due to concussion protocol. Tom Ryan blames Iowa, and marginal refs. PSU fans see nothing wrong with the forearm...good, clean wrestling 49-0

After the match, Spencer Lee AND Nelson Brands sign on the spot. Team stays out there for a game of dodgeball because...fun.

I'm buying this scenario wholeheartedly because I always think positively. The Pyles warm up speech could happen - I'm envisioning a mild-mannered version of the Coach from Revenge of the Nerds:

Very funny! Well done, sir!

I do think Nico pulls off the minor upset and knocks off NATO.

I heard PSU is planning for DT to return and fly around on his unicorn during the National Anthem. Pretty majestic.

The real shock comes in the presser- Cael stares into the camera, cold-faced and delivers a haymaker to the wrestling community:

"I am JohnDoe"

A couple reporters heads explode, Gilman wipes up the mess with Jimenez's face. No liability is found as it's ruled to be 'not a smush'

Johnson is a linebacker. He will not be playing with his hand in the dirt.

Otherwise, your scenario seems plausible to me.

For real:

125-NATO might be too much horsepower for Nico, NATO decision in a tight one, 3-0 OSU.
133-I think Conaway rebounds from Richards match and beats DiJulius, 3-3 tie.
141-Jimmy not quite there yet, Jordan with a decision 6-3 OSU.
149-Can Stieber's elbows hold up against Zain? Not so much...he might need surgery again. I'll go regular decision, 6-6.
157-Nolf by major, 10-6.
165-BoJo by major, 10-10
174-Nickal over Martin, not as close as before but a regular decision, 13-10.
184-Courts with a decision, 13-13.
197-MM with a major, 17-13
HWT-Snyder with a fall, OSU wins 19-17.

This match is about as tight as it gets. Might come down to bonus (149, 157, 197 for PSU and 165, 184 and 285 for OSU) The one advantage for PSU is that OSU has a long bus ride and there are likely to be very average officials there :)

your 57 and 65 predictions are interesting. bo jo and Nolf. something to think about

Heh, I can't imagine Cael sending Nolf up a weight against BoJo but that would be fun as hell to watch. I doubt Nolf would hesitate to agree to it though, and I'd not bet against him.

I think Zain may major Hunter and doubt BoJo majors Rasheed, but even then OSU wins on criteria

I never really understood why everyone seems to think Hunter Stieber automatically contends for a a title at 149. His finishes at Nationals are as follows: 6th in 2012, 3rd in 2013 and DNP in 2015. He's not his brother and more importantly he's had surgery on all four limbs this off-season. I don't think he competes with Zain at all. Zain should get a major and maybe even a tech depending where Hunter is in his comeback.

I think the match will be driven by the outcomes at 141 and 184. Can Jimmy be Jimmy and wrestle smart and healthy. At 184 do we have a healthy McCutcheon. If Jimmy and Matt are healthy - we win.

I think and hope so too. I can't wait for this match as I am sure that since he lost to Dance Nico has been waiting for another test against a top guy. NATO and Gilman look so much bigger than Nico up top, I wonder what their cut is? I think this is a 5-4 type of match. First to two takedowns wins the match.

Would Hunter beat Sueflohn right now? I doubt it and Zain majored him so...

I think Rasheed goes right after BoJo, for better or worse. He really seems to like to mix it up with top ranked guys and has shown confidence and poise. I don't think he gets majored.

Is Brill a possibility at 184?

Snyder's next college pin will be his first. Including lower division guys and sub-.500 guys and backups last year.

Rasheed has gotten winded against guys that constantly hand fight and keep the pressure on him that's exactly what BoJo will do only difference is he won't be fighting for a come back like McFadden and Rodriguez did but you guys don't expect a major there?

I'd put up some cash that says it's not a major. Bo isn't exactly making the easiest cut either these days

One could also argue Rasheed's style on top is very similar to Lewis', that made BoJo look extremely mortal.

Really depends on the extent of the Cutch injury...two weeks might be pushing his return if he has some degree of ligament sprain. Thats about the earliest he could come back in my opinion. If he wrestles, I think its a 6 point swing in my prediction and PSU wins 20-16. As for Zain, I thought about predicting a major, but thought Hunter might be able to hold it to less than an 8 pt. victory.

No offense intended clucas, but Zain may maim HStreibler. Lieutenant Dan, he needs new arms!! This will be at least a major.

Clucas....you missed the biggest advantage for PSU. A record crowd will certainly hype up our guys and the electricity in the B JC will be overwhelming!!!

Zain pins Hunter. Hunter ain't Logan and he's also not fully back.

Wasn't Hunter Stieber the #1 seed in the NCAA tournament as a Soph? Maybe undefeated up until then that year? There aren't many Logan Stiebers but I think if Hunter had not had so many injuries, he would have been pretty awesome himself. I attribute most of his issues with injuries and not a lack of talent or dedication.

Unfortunately for him, Zain will crunch him pretty badly but I feel for the kid.

Don't remember if he was undefeated but he was the #1 seed. Lost to Mitchell Port in the semis and wrestled back for 3rd. At that time, before many injuries, Hunter looked like he would be a 4x AA and a potential National Champ. Post injuries not so much.

That was his only loss of the year, 7-6. He had beaten Port 12-7 in the regular season.

Really for REAL:

125-Nico has been waiting for this one since his loss, he's back on track and beats NATO in a tight one, 3-0 PSU.
133-Conaway rebounds from Richards match and beats DiJulius, 6-0 PSU..
141-Jordan with a decision 6-3 PSU.
149-Zain destroys Stieber, FALL, 12-3 PSU.
157-Nolf by Tech Fall, 17-3, PSU.
165-BoJo by major, 17-7, PSU.
174-Nickal over by Martin by major, 21-7 PSU.
184-Courts with a decision, 21-10, PSU.
197-MM with a major, 25-10, PSU
HWT-Snyder with a fall, PSU wins 25-16.

Having just watched Stieber's match with Indiana's Blanton, I think that putting him in with Retherford would border on the criminal. He's not ready physically. I would bet money on a medical forfeit.

I'll take that bet. Even if Stieber doesn't go, tOSU will trot someone out there at 149. The net result may be the same, however.

I agree! I don't think Ryan will put him out against Zane. He does not look physically ready yet to handle Zane's leg ride/power half/ arm bars. I don't know about a forfeit, but I believe Zane wrestles a back up.

Honestly, HS's career reminds me quite a bit of the Altons. Looked like a multiple year AA and potential NC, but latter half of their careers decimated by injury.
