I want to believe that the staffers were called out to pick up the players and they were not out with them. I hope that’s the case.
When I first read it, I figured it was DUI.....I also saw a picture of the "recruiting analyst" and wondered if PSU has any like her...
Only Kevin Thompson and Jay Paterno.Did they do that with coaching staff members?
Apparently Dan Conner and some others hassled John Bove who was an older/ long term guy on the football staff...not a Coach but still close enough to Joe to get them spankedOnly Kevin Thompson and Jay Paterno.
The family indicated they were no longer planning on pursuing anything against them in court after originally stating they were. Not convinced she was DUI but wouldn't be shocked if she was.

Right--they still aren't suing them nor plan on it. Doesn't matter what Georgia "offers"--they can easily get more if they go through the court given the circumstances if she was DUI.Willock’s father said he had “no knowledge” of the news conference and that there will be no legal action taken against the University of Georgia, according to Chip Towers of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“No, Georgia is working with us,” the father said. “We have no reason to do that because they are compensating us 100%.”

Crank called him…Wasn’t it Joe Sara?
depends what UGA offers and how quickly the family wants the money. Remember a lawsuit brings with it attorney fees, plaintiff attorney takes somewhere between 30-50% based upon at what point the case settles. It could take years to settle......Right--they still aren't suing them nor plan on it. It was Coach Sarra who was suffering from dementiaWasn’t it Joe Sara?
Fair but usually people aren't going to just take the first offer unless they're trying to protect the deceased. I guess we'll see how it plays outdepends what UGA offers and how quickly the family wants the money. UGA will make a multi million dollar offer....How much is a quick non contentious settlement worth to the family?
They need to wait at least until after all toxicology reports come back. That would be 3-4 months minimum. A bad report would have dramatic impact on offers.Fair but usually people aren't going to just take the first offer unless they're trying to protect the deceased. I guess we'll see how it plays out
depends how good the first offer is. UGA has a lot of reasons to make one hell of a first offer.Fair but usually people aren't going to just take the first offer unless they're trying to protect the deceased. I guess we'll see how it plays out
tox reports shouldn't take that long, month tops....They need to wait at least until after all toxicology reports come back. That would be 3-4 months minimum. A bad report would have dramatic impact on offers.
IDK, seems a lot of high profile cases that remember, it takes much longer. We shall see.tox reports shouldn't take that long, month tops....
You are correct. Both Sarra and Bove have Southern Chester County/ Wilmington, DE roots. My mind transposed them. My Drivers Ed teacher in high school was a Sarra who also coached football and then left us for a junior college opportunity.Wasn’t it Joe Sara?
You can get a toxicology report much sooner than that but, yes, it better/safer to wait for multiple tests and results. They need to wait at least until after all toxicology reports come back. That would be 3-4 months minimum. A bad report would have dramatic impact on offers.

Some branch must've landed down this way or connected him to a job coaching at my high school. He was definitely being fast tracked and made it clear that he wasn't going to be around long- family connections- blah, blah, blah. My greatest memory was when he gave me my driving test he had me criss cross Wilmington's Open Air (attbe time) Market Street Mall to look at secretaries on their lunch hour. The comments and terms that he used to describe them would be grounds for firing now. He wasn't paying attention to me at all.Joe Sarra was from Fayette City Pa. I've known Coach for 40 years (before he passed). I really think you have the wrong guy. Some branch must've landed down this way or connected him to a job coaching at my high school. I'm sure you are correct- our guy was named Fran Sarra if you ever have the occasion to ask.He was maybe 24/25 ish in 1982. Mover/shaker/bullshitter/salesman/ladder climber type. Left for a position coach job at Ferrum College as a very young man but talked of Division 1 goals. No idea where he went after that.I've known Coach for 40 years (before he passed). I meant to write ask family if you are still in touch.....I'm sure you are correct- our guy was named Fran Sarra if you ever have the occasion to ask.He was maybe 24/25 ish in 1982. Maybe I connected them together into my mind or they may be related...or maybe not. Odd coincidence if they are not somehow related given their chosen profession and uncommon surname.
Coach Joe Sarra would have been at Lafayette College at that time. His age would have been about 45. Of course they could be somehow related. He was my high school coach at Southern Columbia starting in 1967 and he was 29 or 30 at that point. First, regardless of the details, prayers to the families. But when this first came out there was A LOT of the story missing. It sounded to me like the young players and female Georgia staff were coming from a school celebration of the national championship. Low and behold, a few days ago we learned that the car was speeding, went off the road, and hit a tree. Now they disclose that they were coming from a strip club at 2:30 am. I know it doesn't change the loss of life at way too young but it now seems pretty apparent that it appears to be the result of poor decisions and not just an terribly unfortunate accident. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ot...sedgntp&cvid=44c04aa80c7b472cb2cfbaffc1a6ca7c
You're right. I guess speeding at 2:30 am after leaving a strip club and leaving the road to hit a tree is just your run of the mill bad choice that is standard for traffic accidents. The majority of car incidents tend to be due to some bad choice by someone and rarely do they just "happen", its also why they do not refer to them as an accident anymore officially. So this would be in line with most every other incident that happens out on the roads. And where they were or were not beforehand really has zip to do with anything.

Unless this becomes a criminal matter, I don’t think we will hear much more on this. Lawyers for the family will utilize private investigators, blood alcohol experts, and accident reconstruction specialists to build a strong civil case that will be quietly settled for an eight figure payout. Assume that figure will come out one day.You can get a toxicology report much sooner than that but, yes, it better/safer to wait for multiple tests and results.
Never saw him in anything but a short sleeve white shirt and tie on game night when he coached me.One tough SOB. I have told this story before. I was at a PSU/Purdue night game in West Lafayette. It was cold as hell out (I know that doesn't make sense ) and the wind was whipping around the stadium. Pregame, I am sitting in the stands -- long john top and bottom, wool socks over regular socks. Multiple layers of clothes under a heavy coat. Winter hat, scarf, and gloves and I am stillG shivering. Sarra is out doing the pregame walk amongst the PSU players doing their stretches wearing only a short sleeve shirt and regular slacks. He was either pickled drunk or the toughest person I have ever witnessed. Rest well, Joe!
If he was a NFL sure shot, it could be high eight figures or even nine. The family of the woman that died will get much less. And if she was DUI ery little if anything. Truly sad and terrible.Unless this becomes a criminal matter, I don’t think we will hear much more on this. Like a modern day Code of Hammurabi where different values were placed for victims depending on class, age etc. Unfortunately I know how those parents feel, and all the money in the world will not ease their pain and the nightmares which await. If he was a NFL sure shot, it could be high eight figures or even nine. I mean, if you wreck because you're drunk of if you wreck because you're sober but just driving badly or too fast in general, what's the diffe
Good post. Money will not ease their pain. Know another family going through a similar thing now. Tragic.Like a modern day Code of Hammurabi where different values were placed for victims depending on class, age etc. Unfortunately I know how those parents feel, and all the money in the world will not ease their pain and the nightmares which await.
But IF they get a sense of justice from a settlement. and then utilize the money to raise up their own extended family for generations, and donate to charitable causes that they see as worthy in the name of their son, they may indeed find some peace.
I don't pray often anymore, but I did for them. Tragic.
