Manny made $3.6 mill. this year at PSU and was set to make $3.7 mill at PSU next year.

Respectfully, this is not hard to understand.
Manny is a successful coordinator.
He wants another shot at being a head coach and Duke almost certainly is paying him more than he was making at PSU
If he is successful at Duke, he gets a Tier 1 job in a few years.
If he isn't, he gets fired and gets a top shelf DC job immediately.
So, he makes more money in 2024 and he either gets an even bigger raise in a few years, or he winds up back where he was in 2023 with extra millions in the bank.

Good Luck to Manny!
Yeah it was clear when Penn State signed him he still wanted to be a head coach. I wish him the best of luck too.

Meant versus staying as DC. I don't think many coordinators get multi-year contracts.
Yes they do.

Knowles has a 3 year deal.
Kotelnicki had a 5 year deal at KU.
Jeff Banks Texas’ special teams coordinator- 4 years.
Moorhead had a 2 year contract at Oregon.

Diaz has made a great first impression in Durham. His introductory news conference plus his visit to Cameron, and other media interviews have gone well. A poster on Duke's basketball board said Diaz gets an A+ in public speaking.

Diaz has also been very gracious in speaking about his time at Penn State and his relationship with James Franklin.
