Marcus Blaze thread

What is the real importance of getting an NLI (National Letter of Intent) from a kid in this current climate? I'd want a contract if I'm the school because the courts have ruled that NLI's are really not enforceable by the NCAA.

so I guess now freshman can wrestle 5 matched at 5 diff schools before he decides with no consequences??
The only reason that would not happen is because the kid would have to enroll, pay tuition and supposedly attend classes at five different schools. Without that, someone would try it.

NIL and the portal is not the end of college athletics. It will continue forward and flourish, but it is a different animal.

I too miss the days of the true amateur athletics in general. We will all be able to say remember when...

I preferred when the team USA basketball was all college kids, and who can forget the ragtag USA hockey team winning the gold, and we all argued about team Russia being paid professionals.

That was a different age, as will be what collegiate athletics were leading up to where we are today.

I preferred the amateur Olympics for sure, but now that it's all pros, however the product itself remains great with the exception of all the bullshit 'non' sports they keep adding.

Switzer is right...all the cheating of the past is now legal with NIL.

This will evolve. For example, eventually we will see multi-year contracts regarding NIL to lock athletes in place. This past offseason, a starting freshmen offensive lineman at Texas A&M, who was from New Jersey, entered the portal, lots of offers, stayed at TAMU. Rumor is he had signed his NIL rights away to TAMU, on the OTOH, he might have gotten a bigger payday.

Will be interesting when the IRS nails the first college athlete for not paying their taxes on NIL. I would assume this is something else athletic departments now have to counsel athletes about.
Didn't Switshow get busted for having a gun in an airport? One of the last guys I'd back.

Embrace it. Accept it. Manage it. It isn’t changing. The Jeanie is out of the bottle. Problem is PSU has no rich narcissistic alumni!

Word is, Blaze announcing next week. I'll say this...Sorry Iowa.. I feel for ya. :)
There is practically no reason what so ever for Blaze to ever have considered Iowa City. The kid has goals which include winning championships.

I don't expect much disappointment though. To successfully recruit and help kids like Blaze develop their skills to become champions would require the Brands boys to spend less time recruiting other schools' wrestling rooms looking for fifth year seniors who might want one of Bob's bags.

Well, I like this latest rumor from Buckeyeville: confusing thread excerpt but I’ve bolded the latest bits (see p5-6 in the link way below)

Some folks high up in the Big Ten circle. I trust them, unfortunately.

I know who knows. Dan Ransick knows! That’s who!

Remember @BobP’s “Book’m Dano” shtick??? Well, I’m here to tell you who the “Dano” was and still is! But alas, Dan Ransick is a man of integrity and will never steal the spotlight of someone else’s decision. But you can guarantee that after the announcement is made, he’ll share his knowledge & intel.

Book’m Dano."

So are you sayding Dan knows where Blaze is going?"

Blaze has made no announcement. Neither Willie nor Pat has posted it, or posted that an announcement is coming.

Brock has a habit of posting his opinion of possible/likely news as established fact.
Yeah. While the sentiment is fine, posting in that manner would merit a strong dislike, if such a thing existed.

I am sure we do but narcissists I doubt want to part with their money.

He slots into 141? A one and done and move up , or a career 141?

I think this question depends on if Bo or Jax (or both) are coming. I see all three in similar weight. But in the short term, I think 141 after Beau leaves.
