I give you my solid gold stamp of approval guarantee, Penn State will make the CFP.

The loss yesterday means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It in no way changes how the season unfolds, and the best part is, PSU doesn't need help from any other team. They control it themselves. Win and they are in.

They had their bad/hick-up game against an undefeated opponent on the road. It will be considered a "good loss". After all is said and done, PSU will be playing an undefeated team in the B1G championship game and will have a chance to redeem themselves. And they will do so.... emphatically.

I'm telling you right here and now..... Penn State WILL beat Indiana next week. They WILL beat Ohio State in Columbus. And they WILL beat Rutgers to end the season. Then they WILL beat Minnesota to win the B1G championship game. They WILL be in the CFP!!!

Mark it down.
Take it to the bank.
Put it in your pipe and smoke it.

Take a hit or two...it's al good. Just don't jump off the bandwagon. It's going to the top.
I enjoy the games win or lose. I'm getting older and I realize 1978 was more of my life ago than I might have left. My kids are 25 now. I lost loved ones. I don't know how many more seasons I'm going to get ( health is fine) in the future so why not enjoy the moments?
Life goes on and of PSU won at the end last night I would be happier, but I'm betting we'd have as many complaints here today with a win as we had with a loss.
It's sad people can't enjoy what they call a passion and it has to be a zero sum game champs or we're nothing.
So right now we have a shot. Just win. And if we end up 10-2, I hope we get a great bowl game and win that .
Life goes on, so I'm going to enjoy the ride.

It does appear that if we win out , we are in the CFP. However, odds are now 13% chance of Conf Title, and 12% chance of CFP. It was 52% range before Saturday.

Have you watched OSU this year, No doubt PSU should beat Indiana and Rutgers, to beat OSU- PSU has to play perfect and get some turn over help.

Originator of this post is correct - ALL of the 3 metrics that matter are still either accomplished, or still can be accomplished. Because there are only 3 metrics for a completely successful PSU football season, and they are:

1. Beat Michigan - accomplished;
2. Beat Ohio State - can be accomplished;
3. Win the Big Ten - can be accomplished.

Thus, the unfortunate loss in yesterday’s game, while infuriating, does not preclude success in the only 3 metrics that truly matter.

Now, that being said, if we do not play better than we did yesterday, there is no chance that we obtain the W in the Shoe. But, we’ve all seen this team when it’s clicking on all cylinders, so winning out can happen. Let’s be positive!

Appreciate your optimism. Don't agree with it, but do appreciate it.

Kind of like how Minnesota pulled off the upset yesterday. It can happen, and we all saw it yesterday. OSU has been playing damn near perfect ball all year. It’s unlikely that they can play this well in every game this season. I think there is a chance they might have their eye on the Wolverines when we play them so we may be able to pull an upset.

I’m not predicting it, but all this sky is falling talk is exhausting. Bunch of soft people on this board. If the team had the same mental toughness as a lot of the posters on here we would have lost by 30 instead of fighting back and having a chance to win at the end.

Why isn't anyone listening ? Both PSU and Jim and UM will destroy OSU this year ! Take it to the bank - Go Blue !!!!!

Agreed. I think we end up 10-2. I'm hopeful for 11-1. Something no one thought would happen ( either scenario ).
OSU is beatable, everyone is. And maybe the day they struggle is against us? The same day everything clicks.

OP is right in that if they win out, they will have an incredibly strong case of the 1-loss teams.

However, did you watch our secondary and pass coverage yesterday? Justin Fields is gonna love seeing allllll the possibilities when he watches the film of this Minny game.

Justin Fields is a poor passing QB. His strength is running the football.

Who do we play in Indy after Minn loses to Iowa and UW?
I'm 50/50 on Iowa, but think UW will dispose of the goph's

You're like a woman going back to the guy who hits her, "it'll be different this time!"

This program ain't worth getting invested in until major changes are made, starting with Ricky ****ing Rahne leaving town and never coming back.

Does this mean you are never reading this board again? That would be investing in this football program.
You will not watch one news story on Penn State football? That would be investing in this football program.
And, that would mean you will no longer watch a Penn State football game. Because - That would be investing in this football program.

I’ll bet you will be back on this board, will watch sports news that includes Penn State football, and will watch the remaining games this year.

Cheese and rice some of you people - can’t decide whether to laugh at you or cry for you.

OL

You obviously haven’t watched. He doesn’t run nearly as much as you think and he is very good passer. He is a game changing QB when throwing. I love Cliff but he isn’t nearly the passer that Fields is

Unless we play a different secondary or find receivers who can catch jump balls or simply catch balls, there’s zero chance we win at the Shoe.

Yep just beat OSU that's all. That won't happen unless PSU plays a perfect game which still might not be enough.

He's #2 in the B1G by the passing component of QBR. (Note where Shea Patterson falls on that list.)
OK, whatever. What those stats don't account for is SP's cool under fire. He's really come on the 2nd half of the season and - no doubt - will be at least a 2nd round......quite possibly even a 1st round pick in the NFL. The NFL game is suited more for Patterson's game over Fields and it's not even close !

What adversity has OSU faced? If the past 2 games are any guide they will be punched in the face early on and have to respond. Sometimes being the challenger is easier than being challenged. Minnesota played almost perfect yesterday, knowing they had to rise to the occasion. Our guys looked like they were expecting to just show up and win. I guarantee the PSU team we see on November 23 will be better than what we saw yesterday.

Oh, Gawd.

Look, with all due respect, I get it. It was a tough loss yesterday. As a Penn State alum and nearly 30 year fan, I was very upset about it too.

But, as you can see from my post count, I do far more reading than writing here. And before the season started I saw most folks here predicting a 3, 4 or more loss season this year. However, they are 8-1, same record as Bama. Therefore, they seem to be exceeding expectations. They also still have a shot at a major bowl game, even an outside shot at the CFP.

I am sorry, but all this "Fire Franklin," "Fire the entire staff" nonsense some are posting is pure lunacy. Teams like FSU, Miami, Nebraska and Tennessee (to name a few) would kill to be where Penn State is today. And those teams combined have not faced 1/10 the adversity Penn State has faced (no need to explain this further).

Enjoy the ride. Penn State football is in good hands and is going to be fine.
