$1.7 million for legal fees? I know lawyers aren't cheap but damn.....
Jeopardy answer: $12.7 million.

Question: What do you get for hearing slapping sounds and assuming sodomy even though you never saw sodomy, just presumed it was sodomy because, you know, those slapping sounds are what you hear when having standing up from behind sex and couldn't possibly be anything else even though the boy was a foot shorter?

And then not doing anything to stop it. Adding this, I'd say he should get at least $15M. What a world, what a world.

I'm wondering if this is a ploy to keep Penn State from appealing, settle on the original $12.1 mil (7.1 + 5) and cut its losses. Penn State may not like its chances on contesting the other $1.7.

Now you can see why this scandal is the same old story....it is ALWAYS about the money!!!!

Penn State's involvement was required, not only as a cover for other PA crimes, but as a source of funding corruption in the politically controlled system.

I suspect...rather, "..it is reasonable to assume..." that the $1.7M additional is the "bounty" promised to someone so that MM's claims would pass through the court system and be paid. This is IN SPITE OF the fact that the charges made against PSU were unsupportable based upon facts and other reasonables. While MM may have had claims against PSU for other reasons..."whistlebowing" is absolutely absurd!!!

What PSU did was pay for MM's "version of reality" it needed to involve Penn State and Joe Paterno so that the Bank of PSU could be broken into by a bunch of slimy politically connected elites. The financial rewards were given to MM under the whistleblower title because it continues to reinforce the public image of PSU "Football Criminality". As long as this fiction is believed by a totally media deceived (& structurally DUMB) American public, the real crimes will remain unknown and therefore unchallenged!!!

The payoff method used here is as simple as this....the stolen money is distributed through "fees" - general administrative, additional compliance personnel, contractual enforcement, fines administration and ATTORNEY fees - which then are distributed to whomever the political elites specify - of course after enough time (or with enough "cover") that this is all out of the public's eye.

MM's absurd claim for the $1.7 additional is just the mathematical proof that the group that caused this scandal feels confident that the deception continues. WATCH....this $1.7M (or more!!!) will get paid through our corrupt PA courts and BOT vetting process!!!

It was always an embarrassment to have this guy on the sideline for those of us who knew him.

After this, I just want to throw up.

I'd bet there is a lodestar (statutory multiplier) in that figure. Unlikey that figure represents anything resembling actual time billed.
