Michigan AG candidate wants Lou Anna Simon to resign (link)

What I certainly don’t “like” is UM, MSU or Penn State enabling or harboring a child sex predator on their campuses.

MSU is in uncharted territory. The Nassar asteroid was going to hit the Mid-Michigan community at some point, the question is if the community could MAYBE have had MAYBE a 10 minute warning before it hit.

I blame Louis Freeh for not giving this community a heads up.

As a former FBI director - he had his own FBI's Ken Lanning sit with his investigators when developing his Penn State report - and he chose NOT to use any of that FBI research. He did a complete 180 - went on about a crummy "football cover up" and failed to use that national platform in July 2012 to educate the public on the red flags.

If he had that national discussion, perhaps someone at MSU that was glued to their TV or mobile device would have had an "AHA" moment and thought that maybe Larry was more than just a creepy guy with poor social skills and might have asked more questions back in 2012.

Freeh never pressed the Second Mile leadership about the flagrant out-of-program contact with Second Mile youth. HUGE RED FLAG. Freeh never bothered to chat with former Phila DA Lynne Abraham, who was supposed to turn over her findings to the AG. In fact, he had no idea she had gift wrapped TSM to Arrow Ministries of Texas and dropped from the radar in January 2012.

For a guy who claimed to "continuously interface" with the AG - Freeh had no idea about Abraham's movements, or lack thereof.

He didn't even lay down a timeline for MMQ and determine that MMQ was capable of time travel on February 9th.

Some f*cking investigator.

Everyone was dazzled by the power blue tie at the lecturn, waggling his finger at the cameras on July 12, 2012.

Louis Freeh is the Pedophile Enabler here folks.

Why won’t I “like” this example? It’s an apt comparison. I said at the time - and have said since - that blaming an “inexperienced” university counsel and then papering it over with “procedural safeguards” which should have already existed was a complete farce. I stopped giving money to the UM Hospital (as did my father) as a result of what happened.

But if I am not mistaken, all three of them were nice guy, pillar of the community offenders. In all of the cases, there were warning signs clearly visible.

There are 2 ways to view it...either all the people who knew those guys knowingly assisted them, or smart people got fooled by a sociopath. The reason I want Lou Anna to be destroyed is that when it was us, she participated in the "burn the witch" mentality, and when it was her, it was "very hard to spot a determined predator."

A wee bit too convenient, honey.

That said, all of us worried about how it makes Penn staters or Spartans or Wolverines LOOK, are also missing the point. Communities have to do a better job of enforcing the simple basic rules of child care and stringently enforcing the rules. I dont care how great you think the 2d mile is--Jerry CANNOT EVER be alone with kids.

I don't care how fab your team doc is...he can never be alone with disrobed young women athletes . Period. These are not new rules. They are very very common rules.

When we spend massive resources blaming people other than those who failed to enforce the 2 adults rule, we are enabling these predators. Own up, Lou Anna, Louie, Bruce Heim, Dr Jack, Kitty, Emmett, Freeh, at also. This belongs to YOU.

I've been saying for some years now that America is a tyranny in waiting. The rancid culture at the FBI and in the media have helped me arrive at this conclusion. What they've done to PSU and what they are failing to do at MSU are examples of raw power, working in conjunction, to intentionally mislead the public. The arrogant can't be changed as they are incapable of shame.

Said it from Day 1. MSU hired a high-powered defense attorney from Chicago to give the appearance of an independent investigation, but really to cover their tracks. You won't like this example, but they did EXACTLY as Michigan did in response to Stephen Jenson. MSU was wise to follow the UM model rather than that of our BOT.
Our BOT basically put out a working manual on how not to handle a crisis situation for all universities to follow.

How has the FBI been involved in the PSU case?

Without falling too far down the rabbit hole of this argument again, because I agree with you in broad strokes, I think it’s clear that MSU was going to do everything in its power to cover this up and continue to give Nassar the benefit of the doubt regardless of what Freeh had said.

The MSU women’s gymnastics coach fielded complaints about Nassar for many years before the MSU and criminal investigations - she was allowed to bully the accusers. When MSU was investigating Nassar, it requested that he perform exams with another person in the room - at least once he intimidated the lower level professional in attendance to leave the room, she complained about it and was fired a few weeks later.

Just like UM with Jenson, this is what happens when you are more worried about liability than about the safety of young people. I don’t believe there’s anything Freeh could’ve said that would’ve stopped Nassar because USAG and MSU knew and were aggressively creating a “nothing to see here” narrative. I do agree that Freeh could and should have said more and that it would have helped countless others not to be molested and assaulted by these monsters.
