I hope whatever was getting young Starocci down is out of his system.

He should have a size advantage over a guy who wrestled at 74kg. Maybe not as wily as Massa, but his top game should be an advantage here.

I don’t think size will play into it. Massa’s going to feel him out for a throw attempt or three. Guessing the coaches will have prepared him for it.

Why would a program back out, the goal is to get competition. Amazing.

Possible reasons: We’re in a pandemic, travel budget, injuries, inability to agree upon schedule...could be anything.

I had heard they were working on it.Hooe people appreciate all the work going into getting these matches.
A tri maybe, but what is the BFD about getting a dual scheduled? It doesnt have to be in a huge arena...dont need concessions or security... maybe being naive but the Wisky match was thrown together in a matter of hours, what is different here?

Edit, I realize BTN scheduling may create snags, but at this point WGAS if its on TV, we need matches any way possible.

Has there been any information about extra matches tomorrow? If Robbie Howard is able to wrestle tomorrow it would be nice if he could get two matches in.

give it up lyons with your political bullshit
Wasn’t it the state of Michigan (ie Witmer) who shut down UM sports? Not BIG protocols but fear over “new variants”?

Honest question, not looking for debate because I don’t know, but if that is true then it is certainly possible that the state of Michigan had input into the “risk” of a tri meet...

If you honestly believe that then why has Michigan St. not had any shutdowns.
You mean the same school that has twice backed out of me

They might as well shutdown, twice they have backed out of meets with PSU. The first time, PSU was cleared, MSU said no. For this weekend, apparently they were wrestling in a tri-meet until they were not.

No, governor had nothing to do with it. University did it. All of the other schools in Michigan (MSU, CMU and others) did not shut down

Why was MSU in you? Please, do not answer, sounds personal. In all seriousness why would MSU compete in a Tri meet when they are scheduled to wrestle Michigan next weekend. If they did a tri meet they would go Feb. 14 through March 6th with no matches. I understand not wanting a tri meet.

Looks like maybe we were both right (and wrong). Certainly cannot say the state had nothing to do w it.

It was University decision after mandate or recommendations (depending on if you believe the state who says they only offered recommendations or if you believe UM):

“Michigan athletic department officials felt they had no choice but to shut down athletics for up to 14 days after receiving what they considered a mandate from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHSS).”

MSU's athletic department is not shutting down. They're tipping off with Iowa in MBB in 10 minutes.

It is possible for decisions to be made for reasons other than a mandate from a politician we don't like.

What the hell does MSU have to do with it???

UM shut down because players or staff at UM (Not MSU, not Oakland U, not Central Michigan...) had COVID tests that were of the new variant, and that concerned the Michigan Dept of Health, who either issued a mandate (according to UM) or a suggestion that University of Michigan shut down sports.

You know why MSU didn't shut down? Because MSU didn't have people test positive for the new variant, and therefore the state didn't issue a suggestion/mandate that MSU shutdown.

They issued a suggestion or mandate to the University of Michigan. Because people at the University of Michigan athletic department tested positive for the new variant, and right or wrong that freaked out the Michigan department of health.
