I didn't say anything about not buying nice things. I said that people awarded money *usually* give back in some sort of way to advocacy efforts.

The reality is that people who have been abused try to bury the memories. Some openly talk about it because they ligitimately want to bring awareness to the problem.

So getting back to the nice things thought.. from a level headed personal perspective, anytime I walk into the garage and look at an expensive asset, I take pride in knowing that I earned it. I worked hard to get it.

Take someone like AF, I find it hard to believe that he walks into the garage and looks at his corvette and says "yeah, that old mans schlong in my ass was totally worth it". Or, maybe it doesn't phase him because maybe that's now how it went down.

People aren't robots. When faced with traumatic experiences you spend a lifetime trying to distance yourself from it.

Would you want $3mm reasons to be reminded of an old mans schlong in your ass? Maybe. But if so, you're clearly not in line with what constitutes as "normal behavior". I've learned over my life not to trust people who show abnormal behavior.

To be fair, I probably couldn't locate those municipalities on the map either since the only place east of state college I've been is Philly for a wedding when I was in 6th grade. I'm cemented in Western PA.
