Poll Updates - 1/21/21

The first round of the first half of the bracket is complete; below are your winners:

Moving on in the final four match ups were:

Bo Derek over Margot Robbie...
Halle Berry over Heidi Klum...
Salma Hayek over Latetia Casta...
Raquel Welch over Natalie Portman...

Raquel Welch is now the new top single vote getter with 314; she beats Charlize Theron who had 303 and so far, they are the only two to break the 300 vote mark.

Natalie Portman is the only contestant to receive fewer than 100 votes (72).

The second half of the full 64 player bracket is ready to go; just need to know what the board wants to do:

- Finish the first half of the bracket and start the second round, or...
- Start the first round of the second half of the bracket with new faces.

Additionally, I decided I am going to limit second round matches to two days of voting since most votes occur within the first day or so, and this will push the pace to the final. Will give folks time to consider how they want the poll to proceed and will get to it later today.

Thanks for playing!

Will you post same pics each round or will you use different pics each round?

It's a good question; initially, I wanted to do two-three pics of each contestant per poll so I could save some good photos for later rounds (the idea being each round would have unique photos), but it was really hard finding good pics of some of the contestants who were popular in the 60's or 70's (such as Bo Derek). So, I expanded the number of photos to five per contestant to get a wide range of shots (casual, bikini, candid, editorial, movie frames, etc.) and so the older contestants could compete with the more photoshopped, airbrushed pics of more current contestants.

tl;dr - I will try to use unique photos for each round but no guarantee.

New faces!

Doesn't really matter tho, just give us more polls!

Considering that the tasteful nudity barrier was broken with Bo Derek and Margot Robbie, my vote is that we continue that trend....but not for prurient and gratuitous purposes, and solely for the purpose of allowing us to cast better informed votes without the barrier of clothing!

When I click on your image, nothing appears. As such, I'm left squinting to see the names.

I think you're indicating that you've completed the 1st round of the left bracket, or top bracket, of 32 contestants (out of 64), and are wondering whether to proceed to R2 with this bracket, or to move to R1 of the right bracket/bottom bracket. If that's correct, I'd advocate for moving to the other bracket, and going with R1 of that bracket.

lol. I'd actually advocate in the other direction. 99% of us know what these polls are. That said, I think the nudity barrier should be re-established. Crossing that barrier does cause some problems, in terms of complaints coming in, which could ruin things for 99% of the board.

I'd like to offer the suggestion of somehow numbering each post so it's easier to keep track of (or search for) each. It gets confusing at a certain point. Especially when people bump older posts. And with more coming, only stands to get even more confusing. Mostly I just don't want to miss voting in any matchups.

Settled - R1 will continue later today...

I'm checking back at the same frequency I check UPS tracking on a highly anticipated package.

Same here. Maybe us old geezers need to see our ophthalmologists. Actually I think Midnighter is using some software for this that does not transfer all that well to webpages on the browser we're using.

Who do we complain to?
Why would anyone complain is the question. But I understand the nature of the board, and agree that stopping just short is the best move.
I'm speculating the top half of the first bracket could be the ones to watch, bottom half looks like a relative blow out. It will be interesting. If Ira had his casino open, we could be betting on the action.

Great hair but she’s got man hands

Anybody complaining about any of the pics, I've got the solution, don't look at them! Let the rest of us enjoy the tourney for God sake..

🤷‍♂️

Jesus what a clusterf*ck. A few months ago I got p*ssed at the board for *reasons* and asked Yahoo to delete my account - everything. Nothing happened and I thought better of it and just continued to post. Today, at around 3pm, I think they finally got around to deleting the account. So, I made a new account - this one. But, I wasn't able to post any new threads or respond to any (and I completely lost access to all previous threads I created as 'Midnighter'). When I contacted Yahoo about not being able to access the BWI/McAndrew Board, they said it was a premium site and I had to pay for it. I told them this has never been a pay site; they insisted. I thought I'd give it a try so I subscribed and after a couple hiccups, I am able to post again. I do not know why I have to pay though - @Tom McAndrew - any ideas?

Anyway, I'll try to get the first four rounds of the second half of the poll up later today; the lockout screwed up my plans. Bye bye 40,000+ posts!! And gotta get that 'ignore' list reestablished.

Check your e-mail, but no, I don't have any idea why you needed to subscribe to be able to post.

Welcome to the board newbie! I suspect that you'll get the hang of things pretty quickly around here and soon be posting some valuable content that will be appreciated by many Well-known Members.
Do we need to give the noob any other board advice to help him get started?
