My predictions

If I may channel a Dennis Miller-esque reference, even Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz thinks this is too optimistic.

Came here to say I appreciate both the (appropriate) Dennis Miller reference and the GWL one.

That is a lot of "sunshine"
I’ll start with this on Thursday just to help the karma along
lawsons-sip-of-sunshine-dipa.jpg

Howard/Berge/Beard - most likely 1 AA out of the 3, maybe 2, would be shocked if all 3 AA
RBY - champ or 2 (Fix will be a tough out)
Lee - champ or 2 (rematch w/Eierman could go either way)
165 Lee - agree
Carter - 2 (can't see him beating Kem)
Brooks - champ
Kerk - 4th (can't see him beating Cass)
However it all ultimately unfolds, cannot wait for the action to start!

PS - What mat is Carton-Pletcher on???

Unfortunately Lee will have a tough semi rematch

Wow, a Leibniz reference in a wrestling forum.

Yes, Leibniz was (overly) optimistic ("This is the best of all possible worlds") but he also noted: “He who hasn't tasted bitter things hasn't earned sweet things.” Let's look forward to some sweet things happening later this week after the bitterness of a tough 2020 and all-too-short season.

Or, as the Situationists put it circa 1968, "Soyez réalistes, demandez l'impossible." (Be realistic, demand the impossible.)

Ok here goes. And this is a long shot

Howard AA but will have to wrestle some tough kids. I think he has a big heart and wants it more than some
RBY champ. Too much speed for Fix but could go either way
Lee champ. Could go either way Cael will have him ready for this one with a plan
Berge AA. Hard to say he hasn't seemed himself I think a couple head bumps may have had an impact
Lee AA. I am hoping he puts the heaters to rest with an unbelievable run on the backside. He has all the talent and he wants it and wrestles accordingly.
Cstar second. I would love to be wrong but Kemmerer is a beast this year. It will take a low scoring match for Carter to win and we still haven't seen all the offense he is capable of
Brooks champ. Wrestles like he's been here before and nothing rattles him. Showed more gutd in that iowa match then I've seen in a long time
Beard AA. I'm being real hopeful here. He seems to be missing something like his head isn't in it. He has all the potential to be an AA so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here
Kerculelies third. I think he wrestles better this time around and beats someone who beat him at bigs

Howard AA
RBY Champ
Lee Champ
Mulligan
Berge AA
Lee DNP
Carter champ
Brooks Champ
Beard AA
Kerk 3rd

I think two champs, 2 2nd, and three more AAs. I think Beard is going to shock some people, and personally think he will beat Schultz in the second round. I think Howard's run to AA will be too hard given where he's starting (he'd have to beat Malik Heinselman and then the loser of RayVon Foley and Devin Schroder match, and then a couple more after that. And Joe Lee would have a similar path. Just think it's too long of a road for Howard and Lee. Being seeded 23rd sucks for them.

Regardless of how it all goes down, we should see some good wrestling and a good two-horse race...

I'm not sure it's a two horse race. I've been playing with the interactive brackets a lot and am just finding it hard to believe we can score 130+. Would require Beard making the finals and actually finishing off Amine this time and even then we need Marinelli to fall to no better than 4th and Berge to make a front side run. Any one of those things could happen but all 3 in the same timeline seems like a stretch.

All this with youth “on” our side.

Iowa underachieving is more likely but I don’t even see that with this group. Lee and Kemerer aren’t going to miss and I would like to see Marinelli get one. Respect for the foil in a GREAT rivalry.....

Marinelli will still have a chance to get one in 2022. He'll be so much more of a sentimental favorite next year.

I'll concede Lee. The other two will have to show me.

I don't know. Conceding Kemerer isn't a stretch either. He's just too technical and has great hips. Don't see him losing unless injury strikes him.

I hope you're right, but I think it's going to be pretty darn close. A couple slip ups like what happened to Murin at B10s and this is a wide open race. And you have 3, maybe 4, with a possibility of bringing home the gold. And stranger things have happened than what Joe Lee and Robert Howard will need to happen to make a run at AA. If PSU has 4 finalists and another 4, perhaps 5 AAs anything's possible.

As for Marinelli, I hate how the NCAA tournament has treated him the last couple times, so I'm hoping he can pull it off this year, but nothing's free. He's going to have to take it if he wants it.

I'm bumping this thread ... it seemed insane but it ended up not being that far off .... Berge looked to be on pace to AA before he got hurt. Only Howard and Kerk were off and Kerk still AA'ed with plenty of bonus.
If Sunshine and Ames2state also predict Suriano to PSU, then we’ll really have to worry that it’s true. 😬
