Then what does anyone need the ncaa for?
I think this is a good move. It was a long time coming. It certainly will change things. I think it will further separate the haves from the have nots.
Well no obviously, but this is them de-legitimizing themselves. Like buggy whip moguls buying cars. You just started asking that question now?

Gene Smith states that is the one thing that it won’t be...they do not want payment to affect recruiting....so we’ll see what rules the NCAA comes up with to try and curb that.So can a Clemson, OSU, UGA, or a PSU booster who owns a company pay an incoming freshman for his likeness?
I’m not sure it will change much of anything.I think this is a good move. It was a long time coming. It certainly will change things. I think it will further separate the haves from the have nots.
That is my primary concern, the kids becoming focused on their own personal stats/promotion and team cohesiveness suffers. Not a fan of this. I predict it becomes problematic across the NCAA.Now they have to "make a name for themselves" in order to capitalize from these new rules. I hope the needs of the individual don't conflict with the needs of the team... strange new world.

Sean Clifford, sponsored by Under Armour drops back to throw. Let's it fly....he has Hamler sponsored by Wheaties wide open across the middle...and that's a Penn State touchdown.....

$299.95How quickly will EA Sports bring back NCAA Football? Can I get on the waiting list now?
Anything that moves the focus further away from education is horrible.I think this is a good move. It was a long time coming. It certainly will change things. I think it will further separate the haves from the have nots.
Will top players avoid PSU because they don't put names on the jerseys?Likeness.....name etc. More details to follow.....just saw this on my phone etc. Have not confirmed 100%....but it looks like it is legit.
A couple of key bullet points from the NCAA press release:Anything that moves the focus further away from education is horrible.
Or will other schools stop putting names on jerseys so they won’t have to pay anyone? Will top players avoid PSU because they don't put names on the jerseys?
Just not that particular image, since he's wearing the intellectual property of the Pennsylvania State University.
Yeah - what will the players have to pay for the licensing fees for appearing in uniform w/ school logos? I'm sure they'll all be equipped with a top notch (high school buddy or parent) money manager to see this all through. I don't foresee any problems.Just not that particular image, since he's wearing the intellectual property of the Pennsylvania State University.
All depends on how it's implemented. But it's certainly fair to assume programs in bigger cities, bigger media markets etc. could have a decisive advantage over small-town U.I think this is a good move. It was a long time coming. It certainly will change things. I think it will further separate the haves from the have nots.
