NCAA Ticket Allotments

1750 NLC points, AND a wrestling season ticket holder, and just got the rejection letter from PSU. Pretty surprised.

Yeah, i have 1565 and no tickets. What the heck was the cutoff?

Would be interesting to know what the cutoff would have been if PSU had taken the rational route of limiting requests to two tickets instead of four.

Wow.. that is amazing..They really should be more transparent with where the tickets are going.. For someone with that many points and be season tix holder to get shut out is mind boggling..

2400+ points for me and season ticket holder and i got my tickets, thank goodness. Seems the cutoff was not far below my number. Crazy times

How much do you have to donate to get 1 NLC point?

$50, so I am only $110,000 short of getting tickets. Yikes. :(

Went ahead and bought two tickets on Stubhub. First time I have used Stubhub and the fee was almost 25% of the ticket price. Is that normal for Stubhub?

Transparency is never a priority with PSU as we all know.....

yes that's normal. they double dip too. i think they add like 15-20% to the price as a buyers fee and take away 15-20% of the price on payout as a sellers fee.

also, if anyone wants to buy flyers tickets via paypal, i'm a season ticket holder and want to avoid stubhub fees.

I struggle to believe there are THAT many season ticket holders that are also NLC members with that many points.

Of course there are lots of NLC members with that many points thanks to football. But Rec Hall was and still is loaded with season ticket that are not NLC members. The combination is only a recent phenomenon

Smells like a good portion of our allotment went to admin and invited guests....or something.

yes, I agree. I replied to the rejection email and got a response. I then brought up this point and provided the info that Iowa state gave regarding their allocation. Of course I didn't get a response after that. It sure would be nice to have some transparency in this situation.

I’d agree! I’ve been FB season ticket holder and NLC member continuously since 1970. Wrestling season ticket holder since mid-90’s. I’ve always kicked in a little extra each year on my NLC contribution. As of last year I was up to roughly #600 on the list of cumulative contributors. I can only conclude that either a lot of top “givers” are big wrestling fans ... or ... that ... a lot of University/State “insiders” are gonna be in Pittsburgh. I hate to bitch & moan about this ... but, I’m seriously bummed out today.

Assuming the 2210 cutoff falls approximately in the middle of the 238 people with 2001 - 2500 points, that leaves roughly 570 people above that qualifying number of 2210. There is no way to know based on this chart how many of those 570 are wrestling season ticket holders and therefore eligible for NCAA tickets. It is hard to imagine even half of the 570 are wrestling season ticket holders but that would leave around 285 eligible NLC members. Not many. With the number of loyal NLC members and lifelong wrestling season ticket holders who got shutout of NCAA tickets, some transparency in the process is a reasonable expectation.

Why would u boycott 2020 over your displeasure with 2019? Wouldnt u boycot this year?

Is it really a boycott if you don't have tickets? Besides, what good does it do to boycott a sold out event? It sure doesn't hurt the event or the NCAA at all.

absolutely. don't feel afraid to let the ticket office/NLC know about it, even though you'll just get the cold shoulder like I did.

I've said it before and I'll say again, I know people at the university who neither have season tickets or donate much of anything who get tickets ever year. The AD has the digression as to who these tickets go to, barking at the ticket office is not going to change anything. Firing off 1000's of emails to the AD's office might at least get them to be a little more transparent. The basic problem is 250 or so tickets don't go far. I believe most wrestlers get 4 and I'm not sure about coaches and staff. It just doesn't leave much for season ticket holders. We are a victim of our own success.

I just meant fans in general since NCAA doesn't care about the real wrestling fan.Next year they will need the real wrestling fans to get to 30,000.I have tickets for this year already

For anyone holding out and hoping that LHU comes through. I got this last night from them

The committee has spent the last couple weeks carefully reviewing the list of requests for NCAA Wrestling tickets. As I am sure you have heard, allotments for this year’s s tournament have not been what it was in past years. This is in part due to the venue for this year’s event being comparably smaller than past venues. We have reached out to the NCAA with a follow up request for additional tickets, but as of today we have not heard back regarding whether or not we will receive them.

We are sorry but we are not able to fulfill your request for NCAA tickets at this time. We will keep your name and contact information on file. If tickets are returned or not claimed, we will refer to our list. We will also do the same should we receive an additional allotment.

The Lock Haven University Wrestling program appreciates your support. Our fans are our greatest asset and some of the best around.

Thank you,

Melissa Adams

I paid $1400 for 2 tickets to the championships in Pittsburgh. Seems like I got more for my money than many big donors to the NLC. Although, I'm a season ticket holder in both football and wrestling, and contribute minimally to NLC, my result was favorable. Makes one wonder whether it's worth the bigger contributions unless season football tickets is the main goal.

Maybe the main goal is to support the student athletes. I just made a 5 figure donation to the NLWC and don’t expect any direct return for my investment, other than know I did a tiny part to help athletes I admire pursue their dreams.

Way to go AA! Giving back closes an athletic circle that helps the next generation achieve good things on and off the mat

You will see MANY of the tickets are sold to persons who are employed in positions that can get a ticket!!! Some use them, others SELL them for a profit --- if you could double your paycheck one week without paying taxes, WOULD YOU DO IT???

No not for wrestling tickets I wouldn't.We all need money and all decide how we will make it to me wrestling tickets isn't one of them.

Yep. Penn State and transparency have always gone hand in hand.
