NCAAs

windcreek sportsbook in PA has PSU to win NCAA's at -500. i like to think our odds of winning are above 83%, and 20% ROI is pretty good for 6 weeks, but i'm not sure sure it's worth the risk for a huge bet.

I think our kids learned a lot from Friday's match, and they'll be better off. Iowa wrestlers have elite skills at slowing down a match using hand-fighting and maintaining defensive positioning.

Eight of their starters (7 on Friday) are in their 5 or 6th year. When you're in the Iowa room that long you're going to learn the Iowa way.

Who needs TDs when there is a chance to win with a ride out in OT ... yawn 😴

Cael always gives his boys a lot of work to do January on thru to March. It's why so many of them become AAs and Champions silly.
We’ve seen it before but idk brooks and star looked way more comfortable as frosh. Big meet and they’re young. Our 157 is a tough matchup for sure because of his style and the strategy was likely well in place and well executed.

Brooks lost to Taylor Venz (like got worked, didn't look competitive, last second reversal brought it to 8-5)
Starocci beyond his loss to Washington struggled with Fisher and Krattiger

And I don't expect any of them to win obviously (like Star did and obviously COVID cancelled 2020 but Brooks did with B1Gs) but I do expect improvement and they'll be at their best in March.

What started as a great thread turned into a snarky shit show thanks douchebags.

Guilty as charged:

Cassioppi is Top 3 lock IMO with solid bonus potential.
I would put up $1000 right now that Cassioppi does NOT finish in the top 3.
I just don't see it. Too many athletes that are a real challenge to him. I'll pick Davison and Schultz over him in March. I wouldn't rule out Pitzer, or Elam either.

It might happen, but you might want to wait to bet until NCAA seeds (or at least after B10s).

Cass beat Davison a few weeks ago and is 2-0 career against him, Schultz, and Elam:
Davison 7-3, 3-2
Schultz 4-1, 5-0
Elam 6-0, 4-0

Davison seems the most likely to beat him, especially with one close match and the other being the mystery PD spladle call.

Pitzer is the only other HWT with much of a chance.

I'm kind of curious how skinny Tony does against big Schultz. It wasn't close when Cass was a mountain himself but I wonder if Schultz's size could present a little bit of problem.

I believe he is the third best 285. However, the intensity that Iowa has this year this early may be unsustainable. I’m thinking they are peaking way too early… as usual.

I respect your opinion but they look the same to me.

Yeah, I'm not buying his take either. Starocci is supremely confident and has a much higher likelihood statistically to win a title this year than in his freshman year. Brooks' earlier loss was a bit of a hiccup, but he too is the prohibitive favorite to win a title at 184 this year and I'm not sure that many people thought that his freshman year. Both are clearly the best at their respective weights and both are wrestling comfortably and confidently.

We have all watched this show many times. Our guys take a close loss and way more often than not, come back and beat that same opponent next time, perhaps never lose to them again. Yes we would rather have the young guns all win, but those losses can all be overcome.

After watching Pitzer this past weekend I think he may be a low AA at best. He looks like he needs more weight and strength to compete with top 5. May be a year or 2 away from big things.
