I'm thinking Northwestern is going to pull the upset as Notre Dame as been living on the edge quite a bit this year, barely beating Pitt, struggling with Ball State provided Northwestern has come down from beating Wisconsin.

I think West Virginia is due and wins in Austin. Go Mountaineers!

Is this a NW home game, being played at Soldier Field, or one of those "special location" games ND is doing?

Either way, I think ND wins.

Texas over WVU.

Not really happy about both, but I think that is the way it plays out.

I don't know who wins but I will be rooting for the Ws: Wildcats and West Virginia.

I really think NW has a great shot to pull the upset. They tend to play to the level of the competition. Not convinced that they'll win but it should be a great game.

I don't think Texas or WVU is very good but I'm leaning toward WVU in that one

I think Texas is decent. But to you everyone isn’t good.

ND and WVU - Really lost respect for Texas after that Winovich looking turd on UT last week boat raced the OL and tried to hit the Oky State QB on a kneel down as time expired - he should have been kicked out and suspended. Almost was an all out brawls caused by that clown.

Define "good". Alabama is elite. Clemson & LSU appear to be "great". , Michigan, ND, Oklahoma, Penn State, Ohio State, Georgia and maybe Wazzu are "good" and some of those may end up being great. We'll find out about Kentucky this weekend. Florida's probably good too. Parity is reigning supreme this year in my opinion. Are you impressed by many teams? West Virginia and Texas are decent (to use your word) but neither team is impressive. I think Penn State would beat both 9 times out of 10 and we're not elite this year. The Pac XII, Big XII and ACC are all awful outside of Clemson and Oklahoma. Maybe Wazzu

I respect how much Fitzgerald gets out of his talent. They gave Michigan a great game, won at MSU and beat UW. However, despite them turning their season around, they are an average team at best, and I've watched many of their games this year. Their wins against MSU and UW say more about MSU and UW than about NU. ND should beat them handily.

Notre Dame might struggle in that cow pasture. Bad field plays to Northwestern’s advantage.

My expert analysis:

My next door neighbor played on the offensive line for WVU, he's a lot bigger than me, so I pick them.
ND beat him in the last game he played so I'll take ND.

Comes down to Northwestern's run game and turnovers. Bowser has looked very good the last two weeks and needs to continue that to pull off the upset. If Thorson throws 3 picks like he did against Wisconsin NW won't have a realistic shot to win. Thorson appears like he's getting healthier but he has to play better and protect the ball.

Here we go a close win over a not so great Iowa team and we can beat anyone.

Texas and WVU would beat us this year.

ND by 20 and WVU by 7.
Mark it down.

There are NO absolutes either way. On any given day PSU could beat Texas or WVU. And on any other given day Texas or WVU could beat PSU.

This is a big game for Northwestern, especially for recruiting , and being the lead dog in the west division. Expect ND"s qb to get scuffed up a bit.

I worry about NW in late season encounters. I guess my perception might be wrong, but I think depth becomes an issue for them late season.

Based on pure talent and athleticism, one would expect ND to win by 14-17.

BUT

On any given Sat and in any given game, anything can and often does happen. There’s absolutely no pressure on NW while every game ND plays looms larger and larger.

NW puzzles me about how bad they play against their out of conference competition they should be able to beat handily. NW plays lights out against BIG 10 competition so maybe Fitz should tell them ND is coming into the BIG and give them a welcoming party loss.

20? They were barely able to do that to Navy, and they were actually trying very hard. I think NW wins, but if not then they will definitely be within a touchdown. Mark that down.

Here’s the damnedest thing about ND - they’re a good team but WAY over ranked likely due to their seat at the head of the cfb tradition table. But if the playoff started today, does anyone truly believe that they can hang with the likes of the current day big dogs? If they get in, a huge double-digit loss awaits them against any of the other 3 teams they would play.

If PSU was playing ND this week, instead of UMich, does anyone think PSU’s chances for a win wouldn’t go up dramatically?

I didn’t think so.
Since you mentioned meatchicken, I’ll offer that they are similarly overrated. I’m not sure if this Penn State team can beat either, but I’m also not suggesting that the Nits should be in contention for the cfb playoff either.

Put another way - ND & scum are MUCH closer to PSU than they are to Bama or Clemson.

The fact that they might get slaughtered by the three teams ahead of them doesn’t mean they are overranked at #4.

SOMEBODY has to be ranked #4.....who else would you rank above them at this point?

Most of the rest of the top 10 are better than the domers...hell, a lot of 11-20 would beat them 7/10 times.

And that largely depends on the O-line which has played poorly at times this season (nevermind the past half decade or so).

But yeah, Good Thorson (and not Bad Thorson) needs to show up.

Btw, Bowser's style of running reminds me of James Connor w/ the Steelers.

A lot of that has to do w/ the OC going into a shell for early OOC games, along w/ early season struggles w/ the O-line.

Getting Nate Hall back at LBer helps the NU D.

Another thing, beating Wisky is nothing new for the 'Cats.

Over the past 28 meetings, the series is tied 14-14.

I think Northwestern has a very good chance depending on whether the team that leveled Wisconsin or the one that struggled with Rutgers shows up
