I know it would make me feel better. Why didn't some other big program pick this guy up?

All knowing board.......discuss.

We need someone to pickup the safties coaching. Vanderlinden's primary position experience is with the LB's.

Why is it a done deal that Pry stays with the LBs? With the money we saved by NOT retaining shoop we should have enough for two assistants.

Ok so lets lose the DC AND rearrange multiple coaching assignments on the staff including the new DC's position responsibilities.

There is a limit to the number of assistants we can have. Pry will stay with the LBs. We need a safety coach. I think we should mak a run at Darren Perry. He is the Packers safety coach and a good one. Don't know if the money or anything would work but I think it would get Franklin some relief we some fans to put another PSU guy on the staff.

Perry has too much NFL experience to leave for PSU's lowest defensive assistant spot. The heirachy now is Pry > Smith > Spencer > the new db coach. If it is player with PSU ties it will be more on the level of a D'Anton Lynn or Dan Connor.

We already did that on the offense side. Ricky Rahne loses his QB responsibilities, which now fall under Moorehead, and Moorehead is the OC AND QB coach.

Vanderlinden? No. He did a good job at Penn State, but if he was all that highly regarded, he wouldn't be coaching LBs at Air Force.

No retreads, please. Get us a young, smart, energetic, up-and-comer. I don't care where the next DB coach played college ball.

Precisely the offense is being overhauled and it needed it.

So now that the offense is being overhauled, let's just go do it on the defensive side of the ball too even though we don't have to since we are just elevating the former co-DC the DC position, and the fact that the defense, although not perfect, was working much better than the offense. Let's just do it to do it.

The offense was broken. It needed it. The defense is not nearly as broken. Maybe you feel differently about the defense, which would rationalize playing musical chairs there as well.

I'd get these calls for former coaches if the results under Joe's later staff had been stellar, but they weren't
