SIAP but I haven't seen anyone point out yet that Mesenbrink has 16 techs so far this year (!), which beats the previous PSU record of 15, set by DT in his 2011 freshman year.

What a season...

Mesenbrink has also bonused 21/22 = 95.45% of his opponents (if you count the 2 Journeyman forfeits & Gallagher injury default as bonus), which beats the previous PSU record of 32/34 = 94.1% set by DT in his 2014 senior year. Of course this record could stay DT's depending on NCAAs (or depending on how you count forfeits).

(I guess the PSU record book doesn't count forfeits or injury defaults as bonus wins, so they only have Mitchell at 18/22 = 81.8% bonus, good for 17th place)

Mesenbrink is really freaking great — the eye test suffices for that. But as far as the TF record goes, it is a difficult comparison to make when the scoring rules were different in DT’s era.

Granted, fewer matches are wrestled on average in the modern era, but still, TFs are so much easier to get nowadays.

He's so good he's exposed the flaw of the 3 pt TD.

1.) Screws up historical comparability.

2.). Changes. especially for wrestlers especially strong from neutral position (Mesenbrink, Steveson) the objective of the match from FALL to TF. Why screw around looking for a pin when you can click off 7 or 8 takedowns and end it early, skip the risk of a Rohn situation and still get 5 pounts.

Maybe if they are going to keep screwing with the rules, make a pin 7 or 8 team points.

Inflation is pervasive!

That’s kinda weird. A forfeit and an inj def are bonus points in scoring. However if those aren’t counted in the calculus then the matches themselves shouldn’t be included and he would be 18/19 matches he actually wrestled. You cant just not include one half of the stat.

Yep, 94.7% bonus rate. Impressive under any set of rules.

They don't count forfeits or injury defaults as bonus, but they do count them as non-bonus? Seems like the percent bonus calculation needs to eliminate these two categories. So, MM was 18/19 = 94.7%.

A win is one of two things.
2 types of wins- Reg decision and BONUS.
A regular decision is 3 points, anything over that should be " BONUS" no matter MD,TF,Fall,DQ,MFF, regardless it's BONUS

You can add ATW to the list of acronyms ... afraid to wrestle
