new shoop thread

No scoop, other than his wife and kids still live in Tennessee...so it wouldn't be a shock.

Per insiders (meaning rumor mill), shoop reached out to Tennessee first. It is now up to Tennessee to accept or reject..

Dumb and Dumber.

Let me make it clear. I was just asking the board to see if they had info. I am not losing sleep and the sky is not falling. I am just trying to follow the situation. I am amazed at how some folks attack other posters for asking questions and seeking info is that not what a message board is for?

Hey buddy...I have family in Knoxville and it takes every bit of 3 hours each way....2.5 depending on where you live...definitely not a commutable option in my opinion....most certainly not for a football coach pulling in long hours every day.
I can make it from Knoxville to Clarksville in 3...if it takes you three to Nashville then you drive like a granny.

Edit: Not that this has anything whatsoever to do with this coaching search...I've just seen this on here twice now.

It is 181 miles from Nashville to K Town. That is 2 hours and 45 mins. If you live in Franklin or Brentwood or west side of nashville like green hills it is every bit of 3 hours. Now if you are talking Mt Juliet to say turkey creek area that is different story. Generally 3 hours is safe bet

My right hand to God and my hand on the bible, this is the first time I heard 'rocky top'....
guess I don't give a $hit about Tennessee football  or take my head out and get some fresh air

Not hard to believe since you didn't know what MNF or GMA meant either.

You must not watch very much football if "Rocky Top" is an unfamiliar concept.

My wife's nephew, Nick, just move to the Nashville area this past summer. He came home during Christmas and said he really enjoys the area. in the past four years, he moved from St. Louis, to Michigan, then to N. Carolina, now to Nashville. You mentioned Mt. Juliet, sound familiar during our Christmas conversation. I'll check back with you Nashville Lion in the future when I find out the community Nick lives.

Only if you're going the speed limit.

Truthfully, after 11-11-2011, I don't. In my earlier years, I spent most hours in the fall going to games & watching games on the tube from noon to the last games from the west coast.
That said, I'm not familiar with the rock top song. on time in my lift, sports was a continuum in my life.
I also remember out two bowl games with the Vols, big wins, also remember the game with the Vols running back a punt or kickoff for a touchdown. I can't remember all of the details, but I believe it sealed a win for the vols.

Guess you missed the 2007 Outback bowl - PSU/UT. You guys won that one 20-10, so the Tennessee band would have only played Rocky Top around 175 times instead of the usual 350 or so if they win. You cannot watch a UT game without hearing that song.

Rutgers defensive line coach Jim Panagos has emerged as the front-runner for the Tennessee defensive coordinator job. Could happen tonight.

Another board posting!!

Well, he has two sons and both are in State College. One goes to SCHS, the other PSU. Those are the only two kids he has, so I don't imagine that his wife is living alone in Tennessee. Add to that the report that they sold their house in Nashville and I think we can dismiss the family angle as an incentive for him to take the UTk job and listen to "Rocky Top" being played incessantly.

Right. His wife is not in TN. She's here in State College. In fact, I even saw her today.

I mentioned to you earlier, I don't care about Tennessee football and would not identify 'rocky top' even after watching the 'rocky top' video. Play the service medleys, I get goosebumps & teary, and I will distinguish between each branch of our armed services.

Now, if Tennessee orchestrated the 1812 Overture at games, I’d certainly identify the masterpiece, but not the masterwork of ‘rocky top’.
