NFL Scouts were pretty impressed with Allar's performance last night

And people here think he wasn't great yesterday lol
Felt like last night was one of, if not the best games of Allars career for
@PennStateFball
when it came to-decision making in a muddy pocket
-ball placement vs tight coverage
-confidence hanging in the pocket
-playing faster with his eyes on 3rd downs

Probably also unimpressed with all the current projected 1st rd QB’s (Sanders, etc)

This can’t be, the QB experts on this board said he was terrible yesterday.
He didn’t have a lot to work with and he did drop two balls in the hands in the end zone that were dropped. Might have been nice to those points.

@ryoder1 read all the comments from "experts" regarding Allar--you're wrong. Not the first time and won't be the last
All the “experts” also say Lamar is the best quarterback in the league. Again you use pretzel logic to try to prove your dopey takes. Although you are right about Allar, Stevie Wonder Squirrel.

No expert says Lamar is the best--your claim is other players say that which we know is for one reason only.

All the experts say it. In addition to being dumb you must be deaf and blind.
All the experts--all of them picking Allen or Burrow for MVP--yupp all of them
All of them will be talking about how Lamar can't win in the playoffs in about a week as they prepare for Pittsburgh or the Chargers--for your sake I hope they get Pittsburgh so they win at least one game before Allen or Mahomes beats him

Nobody gives a squirt about Lamar ... go away.

I agree that he could be a longtime NFL qb and also that he should stay another year. Unless he was selected by a team like the Packers- who have a star starter and a history of letting their yoing qbs mature/learn how to be a pro- then I don't think he is ready to start and lead older men- yet.

I watched the Boise game on Skycast which was a first for me. My bride loved the no "jabbering talking heads who won't shut up." I loved the wide screen photos where you could see parts of the game that are normally produced out by the guys in the truck.

Specifically when watching the huddle- in my opinion Drew still seemed not quite ready for the League. The high angle also gave a better view of some Boise blitzes that hit home- and Allar's indecisiveness was apparent.

The other part of Skycast that I liked was seeing more player reactions on the sidelines and during time outs. KJ Winston was decked out in some funky shades and very much a cheerleader. Abdul Carter was a bigtime hypeman in the 2nd half.

The negatives are missing some of the info provided by said talking heads- but overall my impression of Drew was an Earnest and Jullio Gallo. " We will sell no wine before its' time."

Assuming he got big time NIL and a massive insurance policy, I think he made the right move and will stick with it.

Maybe 10 quarterbacks in the world could make the first TD throw to Warren and the throw that Evans didn't catch in the back of the end zone as well.
Nothing to see here. Allar makes throws every game that many QBs wish they could.
If I can see this, I'm sure NFL scouts do.
If you can't see this you need your bias, I mean eyes, checked.

He also threw a dime to Wallace which was catchable too; not easy but catchable.

And the throw he made to Warren that he dropped at the end of the first half is something most NFL QBs can't dream of doing
He was great throughout the game--the issue is people think he has to be perfect because he's a five star kid

So Allar is better than Lamar?
Actually i was thinking about this so I thought I'd look at Lamar's junior year compared to Drew's junior year.

Lamar 59% comp, 29-10 TD-INT 8-5 (4-4) record in the ACC...not a great passer I think we'd all say. Great RB
Drew 67% comp (in a vertical passing game) 24-7 TD-INT with a 13-2 (7-2) record in the Big Ten and playoff so far

Yes, Drew is better at the same age as a passer--it's not even close.

Good old Lando. Moving those goalposts. Better quarterback magically becomes “better as a passer.” Forget all about those thousands of rushing yards behind the curtain. Ha ha ha. You are funny.

Drew's ceiling is high. He just needs to be more consistent throwing the ball. Like the other night, he can throw a dime 45 yards but 12 yards away, too often he's a foot high or a foot wide. His mechanics breaks down when he's got pocket pressure -- oddly his accuracy kind of improves when he's scrambling -- maybe PSU should do more with bootlegs and moving pocket.

The important thing is he is working hard and continuing to improve. All-B1G honorable mention and definitely has a chance to be all-B1G next year.

I really do believe that Allar will make a good NFL qb.

He's a ways off though. Right now he's not a first round pick, he's probably not even an early round pick. He's a project. He's All-Big Ten honorable mention -- i.e. he is probably the fourth- or fifth-best QB in the B1G. Because of his relative lack of speed he's not really what the NFL wants these days -- they want more mobility.

Obviously he can make really special throws. He works really hard, runs the PSU offense well. Is careful with the ball! He's really developed his ability to scramble and improvise. His ability to scramble and get first downs is huge now and that's something he didn't have last year.

The biggest area where he could improve is just accuracy on routine 10-15 yard throws. When someone's open 12 yards downfield in the middle of the field, an NFL quarterback hits that window 99% of the time.

Is he better than Josh Allen and Mahomes? Tom Brady?
Coming out of college way better than Brady
What stage of their careers are you trying to compare to Allen today is better than Allar. Allar was way more accurate in college which carried over to the start of him NFL career. See the picks

The Ravens passed on Lamar and others wanted him to play receiver--true or pass?
Lamar's a great runner--he's a subpar passer--always has been and always will be

4th or 5th best in the Big Ten--this might be the dumbest post I've seen yet
No NFL QB hits any throw 99% of the time
Allar in a vert pass offense has a completition percentage of over 67%--he's not Gabriel throwing 80% of his throws within 5 yards on the LOS
I'm beyond done with the stupid. 4th or 5th best in the conference lmao
Just someone else looking at stats not understanding anything behind them

I wonder 3-5 years into his NFL career will he be considered a top 5 NFL QB? That would be great but I have my doubts. Although his senior year could be like Peyton's senior year or Andrew Luck's and he could be coined a can't miss guy. Just don't know at this stage.

THIS. Exactly this.

I think this is why AK doesn't call that many short crossers or slants. But the one game Pribula threw some passes, he connected on I think like 2 which made me wonder why Allar wasn't throwing those patterns.

If he works on his short passing accuracy, he's a top 10 draft choice easy. As it is, I'm sure some team would become enamored of physical tools to take him in 1st round this year.

He's making the right decision to return if he has any dreams of developing into a Manning or Luck or even Nix. Even in games in which he plays well, he's wildly inconsistent like on Tuesday, in which he was dropping pinpint dimes into the corner of the end zone but then overthrowing wide open receivers because of poor mechanics.

It appears as if NFL teams now want their highly drafted qbs to play immediately and don't want to spend wasted years in developing them; just look at Nix, Daniels, Maye and Williams this season. Just based on my over 50 years of watching NFL football, Allar isn't even close to being able to run an NFL offense right now. In 2025, he'll be one of the top returning qbs playing behind what should be a great o-line and corps of backs and probably an improved receiver corps, which should do wonders for his development.

False.
Ha ha ha, ho ho ho
And a couple of tra-la-la's
That's how we laugh the day away
At the Merry Old Lando Oz.

When you first touted Jackson as better than Mahomes last year, I disagreed with that just based on all of Mahomes' big wins. However, while I still would take Mahomes over any other qb if I had to win one game, I admit that Jackson is progressing into a great qb rather than an athlete who plays that position. However, he still is going to have to take that next step in the playoffs.

No one knows that...you're correct. But we're evaluating hundreds that same the same stage. Peyton and Luck also had no need to come back. Peyton wanted a title and Luck didn't need the money so they returned. Good or bad or no difference who knows.
