Nickal wins AWN's 2017 The Hammer Award

Opinions on where Bo would have fallen in the Hodge voting without the loss to Martin?

Top 4? Top 2?

Probably would've won it. He would've been right in line with Zain and Jason in the record, pins, dominance. Tied with Jason for past credentials, slightly behind Zain.

But he would've had the national finals win over 2x champ Dean -- which Zain and Jason didn't have. Voters being voters, that's how they would've gone.

Still believe Bo deserved the OW Award at the NCAA Tournament. He dominated on his way to the Finals and beat 2x Defending Champion @184 Dean in the Finals. Zain deserved the Hodge, but imho Bo deserved OW at the NCAAs.

I have to agree. Undefeated, nearly most dominant and beating Dean. Yea. Hodge would have been his.

The silver lining of that loss is that he was re-reminded of the importance of wrestling without taking unnecessary risks. That approach of avoiding unnecessary risks, which Cael commented favorably on afterward, presumably helped in the final.

Too close to call, imo. Dislike "what-if's"...they can lead to never-never land.

Per TheMat, MyMar still owns Nickal because Martin has won the last 2 matches that "matter"

o_O

Huh? I'm confused, I thought Head Tanner Ryan's mantra was "Duals Matter"??? Pretty sure Bo's record last year against MyMar was 1-1 (lifetime NCAA record is 4-2 I believe), he lost 9 less times than MyMar last year (Bo ended 26-1; Martin was 32-10) and Bo won the 184 lb Individual National Championship (MyMar didn't even make it out of Quarters in the Champ Bracket). Too funny that MyMar has won all the matches that matter - MyMar didn't even win the B1G Championship, let alone the National Championship at his weight class! Good thing going 2 for 6 against Bo is winning all the matches "that matter", LMFAO!

Totally agree with this. A significant part of me feels that if Bo hadn't lost to MyMar then Dean may have been able to capitalize on an unnecessary risk and beat Bo in the finals.
