Takes on Beka Lomtadze of Georgia in the 61 KG final. I missed every match but apparently, per Twitter, they were quite the ride, Stieber coming back twice in the last two, beating Ehsanpoor (Iran) in the semis 9-8 after being down 6-2; and 13-11 over Akhmed Chakaev of Russia on a disputed TD with 5 seconds left. I'll post the feed here once I get it.

Youtube of the Chakaev match, I suggest muting the inexplicable music added. Chakaev went up 10-9 with under 10 seconds remaining and Stieber evidently got a TD off the whistle following, but the video doesn't have the TD. And evidently that was an issue when Russia tried to challenge--no video, no challenge. More than a few people on Twitter said it was a good TD though.

The UWW is a joke. Given that these were basically the non-Olympics Olympics for these wrestlers you'd think they could've dug deep for the extra hundred bucks or whatever it would've cost to have a reliable stream. Not that I expected anything except negligent stewardship of the sport from the UWW, but it helps to whine about it I guess. There, better.

Green looked to have problems staying out of the ties, especially the Russian ties. When he had space he was effective but that unfortunately was in 2pd already down 3pts.

But yes a medal by streebler is awesome.

And yes the UWW is a joke on a promotional level but I doubt foley will mention this either. Too many other causes to worry about.
