Northwestern Game Advice

Anyone been to NU for a game? Planning to stay downtown Chi for Friday and Saturday and were hoping to take the train up to the game to avoid traffic/parking. Very familiar with Chicago but have never taken the train. Any advice or thoughts on how easy this would be for a non-train rider and wife and 3 kids to pull off? Thx
