Notre Dame's obsession of being an Independent in College F.B. about to bite them in the a--

They might be left out of all of their games in the A.C.C. as well.

I just don't see that happening, simply because they're Notre Dame and AD's need money.

EDIT: reply to OP, not rmem above.

Assuming games are played.....

With the exceptions of Clemson and maybe Florida State, there's nothing about ACC football which makes most fans want to watch. The conference will certainly roll over for Notre Dame because they have no choice.

Unless Notre Dame is willing to throw some NBC $$$ toward the ACC, I could see the conference passing on including them in so many games...

It probably doesn't sit to well with some of the ACC teams. And at this point, ND needs the ACC more than the ACC needs Notre Dame.

What would possess ND to do that, assuming there is any money available?

Is this when we should feel fortunate that Penn State is in the b1g? I get confused about that.

So you think that PSU would be in a better position in another conference or as an independent?

Didn't they already say Notre Dame would be included in the ACC games, in that they would pick up more ACC opponents to get to the same number of games at the rest of the ACC?

There is a zero percent chance that Notre Dame is left out in the cold if we have CFB this years.

If NBC is primarily broadcasting ACC games, why wouldn't there be money?

ND plays six games v ACC opponents. Three belong to NBC, the others to ESPN. ACC cuts ND out of its schedule, it loses revenue as well. Can't give you relative numbers because the ACC broadcast contracts don't breakdown by sport. Don't think that ND has a huge financial advantage per game.

Sounds to me like a lot of sleepless nights in ACC officials bedrooms and not just because of the heat. "Do we or don't we?"

No. We’d bring in less money in the ACC, but they may not hate us as much. Who am I kidding? They’d hate us plenty.

ACC already extended the olive branch, no?
Olive branch is a nice civil way of putting it.
I probably would have gone with the ACC has already puckered its lips and is waiting for ND to drop its drawers and flash its fanny.

According to Brian Kelly, the ND phones are ringing off the hooks from schools that want to get on their schedule this season.

Not going to happen. ACC already said it will help Notre Dame fill its schedule if needed. So. They play more ACC schools, not less.
This - it's to the ACC's benefit to add more ACC teams to Notre Dame's schedule, especially if it comes with the caveat that one or two of those additional ACC games are added to the ESPN/ACC Network kitty.

The ACC has already publicly started they will help ND with scheduling this year. ND will likely end up with 10 ACC games and knowing them, they will probably keep games with Navy and Army and just play them in early Sept before the ACC starts. While I don’t have a source for this, I’m sure the ACC renegotiated their media contract with ABC/ESPN when they formed this “relationship” with ND. And while it won’t matter this year due to social distanced stadiums, when ND comes to town for an ACC home game, the game is always sold out (even last year’s game at Duke) which means more ticket revenue for the home ACC school. Don’t cry for ND, they will be fine.

Last Saturday night, The ACCN showed a classic ACC doubleheader, Clemson vs Charlotte & Syracuse vs Central Michigan.

So no, Notre Dame is in no danger of being strong armed to join that conference.
