Daton Fix
Kenny Monday

If you mean Kennedy Monday -- Hidlay beat him 10-7 at the Hokie Open last week.

@NoVa Lion -- El-Jefe is correct. Kennedy Monday lost to Hidlay on Sunday at the Hokie Open, 10-7. He would have been a great pick, but alas. If you don't modify that pick, you'll be out of the competition before it even starts. Let me know if you modify your secondary.

OK, change my secondary to Ke-Shawn Hayes.

Fix (yes, I’m aware if his early season test. :))
Ryan Priesch

That's why I didn't pick Fix, and was surprised so many did. Gross/McKee back to back might be a tough challenge, although I think he can beat either, but he has a tougher start than I would like.

Gross/Lizak All of Minnesota's first 4 weights bumped up.

It may be a kamikaze play, but I'm sticking to him (hedging some, as my #2). He and a starting Gable (he's not fellahs, you might want to pick someone else) are the 2 qualified guys that realistically have a chance to be undefeated going into the finals.

I think that some of you, including Tom, are too kind. It IS a contest after all, so I admire that you are helping others to not pee on themselves (picking Fix) or to enter picks that don't qualify.

If that wasn't happening, half of the field would be reduced, right out of the box.

That is correct. Moran lost to Bryan Lantry in the Wisky - Buffalo dual on 11/1.

@Doak, you should change your secondary, though you're not required to do so. If you don't change him, and your primary is the last entrant to lose, then the competition comes down to which contestant's secondary was the last to lose. As one other contestant has entered the same primary as you, there is no chance you could win even if your primary were the last to lose a match. Your choice. Let me know what you decide.
Thanks guys. Perhaps I shouldn’t quit my day job...
I’ve made my change to original post

We already have more competitors than we had in either the inaugural year, or in last year's competition. Not bad, considering that the past two champions, @hlstone and @dsauer22 have yet to step up and join the fray, and @SetonHallPirate's entry is also nowhere to be seen. There's about 21 hours left for folks to enter.

I should add that at this point I have all the edits/modifications that folks have posted, but @Lyco1990 still needs to come up with a new secondary. I'll try to check today or tomorrow to ensure that after all the edits, that no two competitors have entered the same two primary and secondary.

DSauer22 doesn't know squat about wrestling ... I can only imagine what method he used to pick names?!?!?

By the way, big props to the brave souls who picked Dayton Fix or Patrick Glory ... they're both going to have beat defending NCAA champs just to remain alive through the end of next weekend.
I picked both in part because I didn't like anyone else lasting a month, Steveson was redshirting, and if they both make it through they're probably not getting beaten again until Nationals. I give Fix a legitimate chance against Gross. It was FS but not that long that Fix handled NaTo. Glory against Lee is a whole other story but I wouldn't be shocked to see Glory get an upset. I watched him handle Teasdale at Beat the Streets not that long ago and came away impressed. He's dynamic, athletic, and strong for his age. Yeah, Lee's in a class of his own, but he also lost to Bresser last year. He's not invincible. I think Lee will repeat, but won't be surprised if he takes a few losses along the way again.

I don't think i'm going out on a limb saying Lee will probably be favored in every match until he graduates. Barring injury, I think he's as likely to lose this year as Nolf. The way he finished last season, I think it would be an upset for somebody in this field to hold him to a regular decision.

I not sure what the rules are.. I think eventually Gable Steveson will be Minnesota’s heavyweight and Jacob Warner will be Iowa’s 197. Are my picks’s void because they won’t start as the guy beginning the year?

Tom..?

he lost first match this afternoon. Lugo did

oh, I didn't know that -- have since seen the score.

@lobo lion
@JohnBasedow
@LaxHawk174
@Ihawkd9times
@ecdcr
@Eastern HWT
@minnhawkeye

each of you gets a gift. as the deadline for entries is noon on 11/11 (EST), you can change your selection of Pat Lugo. (My mistake for not starting the contest earlier.)

I ask each of you to make a new post indicating your selections, so that I can track when changes are made, in case any of you make selections that somebody has already picked.

Rumors are that Stevenson is not starting, and I believe that Warner is not wrestling for Iowa today. If either of them misses a match, even if it's before the start of the competition (like Iowa's matches today), then they would be counted as losses. And if that's the case, then you would be out of the competition pretty much at the start.

Since the deadline for entries is not until noon EST on 11/11, you can change your primary and secondary until that time. Just make a post indicating to me that you made a change, so that I can track when you did so. Also, try to be careful to not pick the same primary and secondary as someone else already did.

Good luck

Yes, they're out if they miss a dual.
