Official fairgambit travel thread. FINAL THOUGHTS (Long)

Maybe I missed it, but did you get up to Mt Lemon? That was one of our highlights when visiting the Tucson area. The drive up there is spectacular!
We drove part of the Scenic Byway but did not get to the top of the mountain.:(

SUNDAY PM:
Started the day attending Mass at St. Melany Byzantine Catholic Church in Tucson. This a numerically small, but vibrant parish, with a Mass identical to ours back in Pittsburgh. The church was about 80% filled, and there were a large number of young people, which was good to see. After Mass we drove around Tucson and are now back at home base to spend some final hours with relatives before a big dinner tonight. Tomorrow we drive 400+ miles back to Las Vegas and from there we will fly home, possibly Monday but likely Tuesday. It's been an enjoyable trip but I am anxious to get back home.

So, fair, I happen to be in Tucson now - flew in today for a sales meeting. A lot cooler than I expected.

Indeed. There are actual clouds in the sky! The front came in last night. It was very warm at the Sonoran Desert Museum yesterday. Our home base is 28 miles away from you in Oracle, Arizona.

Just remember when you play strip poker tonight: the more you lose, the more you have to show for it!

(CONGRATS!)

MONDAY PM:
In Wikieup, Arizona on way back to Vegas. Had 15 of seconds of rain a while back.....1st of the entire trip!

Back in Vegas. 400+ miles from Tucson in 7 hours with 45 minutes of stops for food/bathroom, and 15 minute delay for construction to move I Beam. Actual speed while driving was about 70mph. Not bad.
Still not sure if we will fly out tonight or wait till tomorrow. Go Pens!

When you're like Arnie and fly your own private plane, you fly when you want to fly!

Travel safely!

Gather up some strength, get into a cab and play some slots or blackjack. You wont feel right if you dont blow a few dollars.

How many leaks did you take over 400 miles? 5-6? Could have done it an hour faster if you'd worn your Dependz.

The 45 min was primarily food (30min). There was 15 min bathroom stop but that was at a gas station with a single pot for women and 6 in line.:(

It was a great trip but I woke up in Tucson yesterday at 5:30 AM (8:30 in Pittsburgh) and I have now been up for over 24 straight hours, something I haven't done in 40 years. We drove 7 hours to Las Vegas, spent some final time with the wife's family, and then flew home on a Frontier Airlines Flight that left Vegas at 11:21 PM (PDT) and landed in Pittsburgh at 6:15 AM (EDT), less than 4 hours later. My wife headed off to sleep and I headed to my office to get some work done. I don't think I'll last past lunch but we'll see. Later today, or perhaps tomorrow or Thursday I'll post some final thoughts about my trip.

The Gambits have just touched down in Pittsburgh after flying through the night. HOME! Some final thoughts later.
Nice to know you and Ms. Fair had a wonderful time and returned home safely. The Pope and I welcome you home.

Not sure of Pope Francis's hand gesture. My guess it's his love to the world's people, or expelling the demons from man. Of course if you're a Texan...hook'em horns. :p

From a previous post:
My grandparents were convinced I was going to enter the Seminary. Two things I learned in 9th grade that changed that particular course of education........
1: Latin
2: I also learned that girls were beautiful creatures, not the bull crap the nuns were pushing.

Fairgambit, don't know if I missed it but what were your final thoughts on the trip?
What did you think of Tucson?
Actually, even as I post this, I am drafting my final thoughts. As a sneak preview, I really enjoyed Tucson, much more so than Las Vegas.

I had Latin in high school, again at KU. If it wasn't a dead language before, I certainly finished it off.
