Official Graham Spanier trial thread.

Part of "what"

I have NO SPIN

All these past two days have done is reinforced that he did exactly what he should have

Sorry if that bothers you

If he did exactly as he should have, why did Sandusky roam central Pennsylvania
molesting young boys for eight more years? Why is he now a pariah whose statue
is buried in some cubbyhole? Why did he say he should have done more? Any intelligent
person knows he didn't do "exactly as he should have".

If they're asking a question about conspiracy, then it sounds as if they're deciding guilty on the other counts, no?
Actually they asked questions which involve both counts. They also asked about supervision.

How do we know he didn't stay out of it? Joe certainly framed his role as staying out of the way. Maybe he was just a sounding board for Curley and made clear that it was not his decision to make as football coach....
Why did Curley need to discuss it with Joe after it was handed over to him? Did he need Joe's ear or blessing? We don't even know who initiated the conversation or how many were had.

Any "expert in the field" knows he did what he was supposed to - I'll just leave it at that

Probably, but unfortunately the reverse isn't true. They wouldn't be asking about conspiracy if they haven't made up their minds on EWOC. Agree?
No, because they also asked about supervision....

Because others failed.

Because the media wanted ratings, not the truth.

He didn't, he said "with the benefit of hindsight...."

Any intelligent person knows you are wrong.

you are so transparent, take your agenda elsewhere. We don't want your crazy spin.

Like I just said, maybe Joe was a sounding board....Curley came to Joe, someone he respected greatly. Being a human being, Joe heard him out rather than throwing him out of his office. But, after hearing him out, Joe made clear to Curley that he as coach was not going to own the decision, whatever it might be. That qualifies as "staying out of it" in my book.

Let's be frank. They all screwed up. Who said what to who on a certain day is just extraneous
BS. Not only did they screw up but they've admitted it. I believe they all are/were sorry for turning a blind
eye. But you can't turn back the clock and they have all paid a price.
Did anyone screw up in 1998?

If yes, why aren't they on trial
If no, why not?

I have loaded handguns and a carry permit. I'm ready if nutjobs show up here.
Walter,

You're a crazy old coot. Do you want to share with this board why 50 years ago (at your late father's great disappointment) you got "rejected" by PSU Admissions?

So you just make it up and it becomes reality? My point was we don't know. You making something up doesn't make it so.

Maybe Pennsylvania can call in another retired judge to do the next trial. Someone like Cynthia Baldwin. Perfect closure to this charade.
If you're a really good lawyer, you can become very wealthy. If you suck as a lawyer, you can become a judge and make other people very wealthy and rub elbows with them. Welcome to Pennsylvania.

OR the very logical explanation that they were discussing the candidates/hires for the two open assistant positions and the subject came up. Of course the HC and AD would be meeting in the midst of the hiring process.

The prosecution must be in a tough spot if it's resorting to calling its own witnesses criminals. Ditka's argument was C/S/S told numerous people yet were so diabolical they watered down MM's story so they could say they told people without really telling people. They easiest way to avoid telling something is to not tell it at all. The prosecution's logic is pretty convoluted but all they need to do convince 12 people who don't know any better. Hopefully the jury remains focused on facts and not emotion.

EDIT: Did anyone even raise the question of what C/S/S hoped to gain by engaging in a conspiracy? Sure, they were worried about covering for a retired university employee. o_O
I think this is what stuff was suggesting was a game changer

Calling their own witnesses liars

I was wrong about plenty of things. Joe didn't know about 98. He did. CSS will not plea. They did. PSU was an 8 win team last year. I can go on and on with bad predictions I have made. My family certainly has nothing to apologize for where as who ever raised you was a failure morally and ethically since you have no accountability. You want to be a perma dick, have at it DB!
Knew what? That Sandusky was being investigate - perhaps nothing else.
So you just make it up and it becomes reality? My point was we don't know. You making something up doesn't make it so.
You make things up about Joe all the time, so everyone else can to. You act as if Joe should have been onmipotent while everyone else gets a pass. Your act has gotten old.

It's a totally blind guess. Maybe Tim called him because Joe told him to? Maybe Joe just wanted to know and called him. It's now to a point on this site people are making up their version of what happened. We don't know. That is the simple truth.
