Official March Madness thread.

Is it just me, or do 12 seeds seem to routinely beat 5 seeds almost every tournament ?

Certainly seems that way. Someone within the last week posted the records of the first round match-ups for the last “x” number of years: #1 vs #16, #2 vs. #15, etc.

What was interesting is the #8 vs #9 record was EXACTLY even...... .500!

duke only up by four at the half against NDSU. Look for duke to respond with an ASS. BEATING. in the second half.

At the half, #16 Iona 38, #1 unc 33. I think we know what that means for the second half.

Let me take this time to remind everyone that Villanova won two of the last three NCs. It’s very doubtful this year but look out in 2020.:D

Yes, this seems to happen more often than people would expect. I wonder if it is because the 12 seeds are often the best of the auto bids from the "one-bid" conferences.

Or 5 seeds tend to be overrated.

What was controversial? Was just following on ESPN.com (son wanted to do a Pokewalk lol). Were the fouls at the end bad calls?

I only saw the last three minutes, so I have no idea how the game was called up until that time. But I thought there were 5-6 calls / non-calls in these last few minutes, every single one went Kentucky’s way. Just seemed the calls / non-calls were different at one end of the court than the other.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Purdue handed Villanova a 26-point loss, the largest NCAA tournament defeat in program history and the second-largest by a defending national champion, on Saturday night at the XL Center.

Purdue's 87-61 victory was fueled by Carsen Edwards, who scored 42 points and set a school record with nine 3-pointers. It was also the highest individual offensive output in the NCAA tournament since Gerry McNamara scored 43 points for Syracuse in 2004.

There's a bit more sir.

Jay Wright said he and his staff failed to prepare sixth-seeded Villanova for Saturday's "ugly game."

"We just, as a staff, did not get our guys ... we tried to make them understand their ability to hit 3s and execute their offense," Wright said. "We just did not have them ready from the start."
