Ohio State LB K'Vaughan Pope storms off field, walks out of game vs. Akron

Precisely. They'll be some fluff piece about him in a few weeks discussing his commitment to his mental health. That as athletes, storming off the field when you "know you aren’t going to win” takes significant courage.
Fixed it for you

Sounds like issues galore in Columbus.
Just a senior LB POd about getting passed by younger players and not getting the playing time. Just stupid ! If he thought he was good enough, just hit the transfer portal. I believe that this being only his 4th game - and last year's Covid year - he would still have 2 years left. Good luck with that now. I doubt if any P5 team offers him. Just plain STUPID. Outside of a crappy defense, I haven't heard of any other issues in Columbus.

Is there going to be QB controversy? What was the word about McCord? I'd have to think Miller hits the portal, no? Certainly wasn't a split deal. Clearly McCord was getting the snaps.

McCord supposedly looked very good but that was also Akron. I think McCord sticks around awhile but agree with you that Miller hits the portal.

Day running into some issues in COL?
I've been on the OSU boards this morning and one of their writers - Tom Orr - pointed out that part of the problem for some of the older players is that OSU had extremely strong 2020 and 2021 classes, maybe their 2 best back-to-back - ever, but certainly in their top 2 or 3 back-to-back ever. He said that a few of "the pups are biting right now." He meant that a few upperclassmen have been passed by freshman, RS freshman, and sophomores and aren't too happy about it. Senior LB Dallas Gant just entered the portal about a week ago after also being passed up by younger players. Both Gant and Pope were Urban Meyer recruits and were not happy at all about what;s happening.

They've had 12 - 2020 and 2021 recruits - play major roles on their defense this year which accounts somewhat for their confusion but it's also been pointed out that it goes right back to DC Kerry Coombs who should have never been promoted to DC which is on Day. A few have said that this is the year to beat OSU due to the "perceived" impact the the 2020 and 2021 classes will have on the future.

Sounds like Day is doing a bad job of managing personality

If we're being honest, that's going to happen with any mega talented team. Read where Alabama has 7 to 8 transfers every year that are unhappy with their playing time. I'd almost bet that Saban's last concern is to massage hurt egos
that would suggest that it is some level of concern, however low- I doubt it is of any concern at all

But when Urban was in charge things like this weren’t happening

Everything about this season has been strange for the Buckeyes, but our pal wolvie keeps reiterating that things are ok.

Things looked off against Minnesota way back on opening night. Couldn't stop Oregon. Played kinda rough last week but the opponent name slips me.

Something is up, even if it's simply they are a notch lower than they have been and Day just isn't handling it very well. You don't run off every junior and senior you have just because your recruiting went from top 5 to top 2.

We watched Farmer start every game Parson's freshman year while MP finished up with like 80 tackles. Ya know?

Urban Meyer ? Seriously ? Might not have had a player walk off the sideline / field but everything else seemed to happen during his stays at Florida and OSU. He wasn't exactly portrayed as an ethical giant by opposing fans bases and the media

Never said things are OK as I've stated on numerous occasions that their defense is a complete train wreck. I have also stated that the B1G East winner could have 2 losses and that includes OSU

Urban usually bails out before stuff gets bad.

In his defense, he turned 2 teams into winners from nothing and won titles with others recruits meshing with his own.

I never said he wasn't a great coach but ethically he was a scumbag - period.

Nobody is saying OSU is completely falling apart and this is their eventual doom.

But Day had zero HC experience before taking the reigns. And Urban Meyer handed him the keys to a program and roster that were among the best in the country. Not to mention they had just landed a generational talent in Fields from the portal. A few years removed from one of the GOAT coaches leaving, it seems like there might be a few leaks in the boat. Each of which could be categorized as issues the coach should be handling. Is this OSU’s eventual demise? Nah. But it’s definitely some adversity, which they haven’t faced in a while. Can Day handle it?

I spend a ton of time on the B1G boards and reading some of the OSU boards is really puzzling - especially their feedback on the defense. Upper classmen like Zach Harrison and Tyreke Smith - both of whom were recruited by everybody - have had ZERO impact this year even after Harrison was selected on a few preseason AA teams and a possible 1st round NFL draft pick. Offense seems to be OK and clicking. The defensive issues have to come down to coaching.

I didn't see a thread on this first half hissy fit from this senior LB and former 4* recruit

This could possibly be an NIL issue on their team. Some of the older players see the younger players getting PT ahead of them, resulting in $ and vehicles and they are left with nothing because they are not seeing enough reps to make an impact play(s). Just a thought, I have no inside info. I recall Ryan Day indicating during training camp that they needed to find a way for all players to benefit from NIL.
