Not quite true. He has the second best guy on his side 1st round in 4x world medalist Shabanau. Other than that, you can't ask for much more.these comments about DT having a pretty favorable or half decent/tolerable draw are amusing. His draw is the best possible draw he could have at the Olympics. He is on the opposite side of Yazdani and the only other wrestler anyone even really mentions in the bracket from Russia is also on the opposite side.
Brutal for TG, but Uguev is one of the bigger favorites in the tournament, so he'll most likely get pulled back in if he loses, so that's a silver lining. To win Bronze, he'll likely have to go through either Atri (IRI) or Atli (TUR). He's beaten both before, but they both hold the most recent victory. His history with Atri actually goes all the way back to junior worlds. Harutunyan (ARM) and Erdenebaat (MGL) are also solid in that other quarter. Good news is that he'd only have to beat 1 of those 4 to medal. If he can't beat Abdullaev (UZB) or Liu (CHN) in his first repechage match, he wouldn't medal with any draw.
Pace will be really important for the Uguev match. He's far more technical than Gilman, but I've seen him struggle more in brawls. He needs to turn it into a brawl, or you might say "iowa style" match haha.
