I can’t read their lips from that angle, but I suspect Casey’s asking …

Being so crass and cynical makes you look bad.

I think the cheering is how those waving people show their hospitality and pride and quality and enthusiasm. Whether on staff or not, that’s how they want to treat their guests on quests.
Only spent a month in Japan divided over 2 trips. Both my wife and I were impressed by how polite and willing to help everyone was. The school kids all wanted to practice their English and even the tiniest shopkeeper would stop work to give directions. One elderly gentleman even made a rough map on a brown bag and left his shop to make sure to walk us to the corner to make the first turn. I believe the Japanese people are very concerned about making the Olympians feel welcome.

Couldn't sleep last night and wound up watching judo, which is more similar to wrestling than I figured, except in bathrobes. More like Greco than FS, easy to figure out the rules. Basically, a match ends on either one clean throw, or extended exposure.

Was there any follow up news on Gilman's injury? Sorry if I missed it. Hope he is healthy and ready to roll

My wife is Japanese and I keep showing her the videos of the people waving the American flags. She was loving it.

That's funny, some matches just begin with an extended exposure in a bathrobe.

You beat me to it.
Having said that, I think US small town would give a team, other than the US, a very good send-off.

Adeline Gray vs Tunisia,
Round of 16:

TD, Gray 90 seconds in, follows up w/ a gut wrench, 4-0.
Another TD, 6-0, Gray, ... exposure, 8-0 ... has an arm bar, going for the fall.
WBF, 2:11.

Adeline Gray will wrestle Turkey's rep in the quarterfinals.

Wow.
Estonia woman upsets reigning 75/76kg Olympic gold winner from Canada, 5-4.
Estonia built an early 5-0 lead, Canada w/ go-behind + gut, to make it 5-4 w/ 0:15 left, but couldn't score again.

Adeline Gray, in the hole for her quarterfinal.
Now on deck.

76kg Quarterfinal:

Gray has the gut, but ref blows it dead. WTF.

Re-start . . . .5:00 . . . neutral.
High-C, TD, Gray, looks like an exposure as well, but not given.
4-0, Gray.
Restart . . . .4:00 ... passivity warning. . . .Hand fighting and 2-on-1s.
Intermission, 4-0 Gray.

Second period.
Low shot Gray, Turkey squares, stalemate, 2:11.

Powerful TD Gray, working a turn . . . .ref stops it, 6-0.
Restart.

Turkey shoots, Gray stuffs it, working a go-behind, stalemate, 0:55.

Restart, Turkey with deep shot, go-behind, 6-2., 0:24.
Shit... Turkey works the leg lace, 6-4.
Trying for another turn.
0:11, out of bounds.
Dammit.

Turkey shoots, Gray stuffs it again, go-behind Gray at the buzzer.
8-4.

Gray wins 8-4, but Turkey almost got that 2nd late lace. That was close !!!

I know they treat their guest very well. It’s one of the vey few foreign countries I’ve actually been to many times. Did I mention cheering or waving? I thought I was talking about the flags and tshirts. If you think this wasn’t set up and paid for then you have no clue. Christ lighten up lol.

Holy Schnikies.

The Russian woman who won 16-12 earlier, just threw herself on her own back THREE TIMES with several failed elevators vs Kyrgyzstan.

Russian basically tech'd herself, 12-0.
That was very strange.
She needed to study her Bo Nickal vs Myles Martin film clips.
