OSU to wear black at home vs Penn State

I think it looks good, and against our all-white uniform will be quite a contrast.

I'm thinking about hitting this game, but $150 for a student ticket+travel will probably prevent it.

This is because Penn State is the team to beat. Michigan is just the last game of the season now. Penn State means everything, and Ohio State's little uni blast to black proves it .

You better believe Urban Meyer has his hot dog weiner on full alert.

Someone better get the tweet out that Penn State will be wearing white.. The only special uniform thing I'd like with OSU is for both teams to wear their home unis in both stadiums. Blue vs their Red or Scarlett.. would be pretty cool in my opinion.

That's what I was thinking too. Black for a night game isn't a great look. The OSU players will look like a bunch of silver helmets floating around the field. It'll be a great contrast for our road whites which will seem more noticeable and unique than they already are. Strangely, OSU in all black will draw even more attention to PSU.

The all black look will make Ohio State play like Oregon State. Classic !!

When teams do this, starts to feel like a real rivalry brewing

It's less about a rivalry, and more about Nike. Texas, Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida,State, Georgia, and Alabama, will be wearing similar black designs as an alternative uniform this year.

It's one thing when this happens in professional sports, but college athletics hold much longer, time-honored traditions, especially when it pertains to a school's colors. If tosu wants to wear alternate uniforms that change the color scheme so be it. But selling out to Nike just seems to be beneath a school that has such rich traditions.

I've been saying this for years, would be much cooler than deviating from traditional colors.

When OSU played UCLA in 1976 (and maybe more recently) both wore home uniforms, UCLA obviously in powder blues. That was very cool. I think the idea was that the powder blue was dramatically lighter and different from scarlet. PSU blue is very dark. I think it would look great but maybe too dark to be effective.

USC and UCLA did the same thing in the 1950s and 1960's and then got away from it (may be due to NCAA rules)....they brought it back in the 2000's, with the understanding that it would cost both teams a time out per half.

I also know of some non Big 5 schools that have worn blue and red when their game was played on the night of the Presidential election.

Initially, the team that wore the wrong uniform was penalized a time out. The other team would either not use one, or burn it before the opening kick off. Eventually the rule changed so that no one is penalized a time out.

Not so sure that the game itself is a rivalry yet, but there certainly is a recruiting rivalry going on, and this is a smart move by Meyer towards that end. My guess is that there will be a ton of recruits at that game.

Or...Michigan is on the road and Penn State is a guaranteed prime time game that will be a huge recruiting weekend. It's definitely one of those things.

Little know fact that wasn't in the tweet, they'll also be turning out all the lights to play in the dark apparently.

Good for them. The more schools that go down the non-traditional uniforms road the more unique it makes us for sticking to our roots. And eventually, there will be so few teams that don't have the silly uniforms, we'll be the "cool kids" while the rest just blend in with the crowd.

That's because fads are timely....but fashion is timeless.

Since everyone is chasing the Oregon different uni for every game. We stay the same. We win. They lose.

Case in point, when Oregon comes out with a million dollar look, they win. But when they go birdsh!t ghay, they lose. Before the kick off the uni delivers the outcome.

We will see this with Ohio State in C bus.

At what point does OSU say, 'Hey, that fat ass stripe down the middle of the helmet has it's own gravitational pull at this point and we should think about pulling back a bit...'?

I'm old enough to be considered "Old School" and am in many ways, but I think fans get too up and arms about the silliest things. Unforms are what they are... uniforms. If we wanted to stay traditional we could send out the players in flannel and wool uniforms and leather helmets.

The players like the different looks and it brings in money for the University. And for the record, the color of the uniforms have little to do with winning or losing other than the team with the better players are usually in the uniform of the winning team.

That has not been confirmed to be the actual uni for the PSU game. But sadly they are supposed to wear black.

I hate the idea of black.107 schools have already worn black. It has bren overdone. Boring.

I prefer actual throwbacks or at least all gray. Gray is becoming the new trendy uni. That would make sense for Ohio State.

Th strangest thing and dont be shocked if it happens. October is the breast cancer awareness month. Gives teams excuse to wear pink or pink trim. Ohio State may be dumb enough to don black and pink. PSUs original colors.
