OT: 2018 Phillies Thread.....

Quinn is hitting lights out RT now and this week he's batted 8th and 9th the last 2. It's a long season, when guys are on move em up, When they're off move em down. But consistently batting poor production in the top four kills every rally that began. Football season cat get here soon enough and I love baseball

Completely agree....Right now he should be running out

Quinn
Hernandez
Cabrerra
Ramos
Hoskins
Franco
Herrara
Santana

Phil's up 8-3 in the series finale with Toronto, heading to the bottom of the 9th. Interestingly, they go with Seranthony to pitch the 9th.

Wow. What a pathetic play By Efflin.

Again , allergic to shut down innings

Pitching has gone in the shitter besides Nola

And an even worse play by Ramos .... Jesus

Edit. Wow what a gift. He was off the plate

Now you know why the front office was so stupid signing Santana in the off season. Hoskins is not an outfielder, no range and can't judge fly balls. Pencil in a 220 hitter every night.

For all the defensive lapses in the top of the 4th, Efflin walking 2 was the big problem. It's also a stunner. He's got the 9th lowest walks/9 innings in the NL (or is it MLB? can't remember). He walked the #8 hitter, and then made an error on the #9 hitter. Not a good thing to do just after the Phils tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd.

Why? He’s washed up.

a bat off the bench. Bour is on the DL. Knapp is ... (last nite as a PH, he saw 3 pitches and sat back down after the K). They don't have anyone that is a good PH. Bautista is hitting around the Mendoza line, but he's still got some pop.

They didn't give up much for him. He's well past his prime, but he's better than anything they can bring off the bench.

Heading to the bottom of the 6th in the Nola - Scherzer matchup, the Phils are up 3-0. Nola has been excellent. Scherzer was good, but gave up a solo HR to Herrera (4th inning), and a 2-run HR to Alfaro (5th inning). Scherzer was lifted for a PH by the Nats in the top of the 6th, as he was near 100 pitches.

should Santana have thrown the ball? or thrown it better? I don't think they would have had an out at home. Due to Santana airmailing the throw, Zimmerman got to score from 2nd, making it 3-2 Phils.

Does the first run count as an earned run?

Why use Hunter to start the ninth and watch him walk the lead off man? One good inning out of him is all Kapler can ask for. Why press your luck on a muggy night? Neshek should have started the ninth, IMHO.

EDIT: WTF. I doesn't matter now. Shame for Nola.

Nola was brilliant tonight, and pitched well enough to win. Alas, as we've seen too frequently this season (especially in the past month), this team has serious bullpen issues, serious defensive issues, and a very inconsistent offense.

The Phils battled in the bottom of the 9th, and scored 1 run, but the final out was on a pinch runner (Velasquez), a pitcher, leaving early on a sacrifice fly.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda

At some point I think it is fair to look at Gabe. Tonight....2 errors....base running gaffe's for the umpteenth time....relief squad that fails consistently etc etc etc etc
