Godspeed to Mr. Trebek.

"Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek is hoping for a victory as he wages a battle against cancer.

The longtime game show host on Wednesday announced he's been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in a video posted to the show's official YouTube account.

"Now, normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I'm going to fight this. And I'm going to keep working and with the love and support of my family and friends -- and with the help of your prayers also -- I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease," he said.

(Alex Trebek),,,,Question: who can beat stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.

A legend and who deserves our prayers.

Awful news. I hope he is able to enjoy the time he has left with his family.

My uncle was given 6 months. He was gone in two weeks. Sad news.

I know someone, albeit much younger than Alex, who is on year 3 and going strong.
Great to hear. It's an ugly disease that doesn't give you a clue until it's too late. I also read that life expectancy of stage 4 is 3 to 5 months. My Doctor got it and he went fast.
There needs to be a better way of detecting it sooner.

Story to hear that. I have a close friend who is in the Hospice phase of this terrible disease. He has struggled for two years with this and went through experimental surgery in Houston TX that lasted 8 hours that had a minimal return. My prayers are offered to anyone that is fighting the good fight.

I had a hs friend who got "the Pank" at age 50 and lived 5 years, even went back to work. Then it came back in his liver 4 years later and killed him like a house on fire in 4 weeks.

We had a family reunion at our Son's in Brooklyn for Thanksgiving. Our oldest Son,wife, 3 GKs,
Middle Son, GF and her son, Daughter, husband,3 GKs, and my wife and I. Great time, going al, over
Manhatten bt subway, Urber, and foot. Came back to Chicago Monday and on Friday morning my
wife said she had a Bad Headache. Went to ER that evening, found clots on lungs, treatable with
blood thiner. But on Tuesday AM scan of abdomen revealed Cancer on Pancreas, liver spots, eetc.
Went to Hospice on Thursday PM and passed Sunday AM. That is why they call it the "Silent Killer".
I thank God I had a moment for us to tell each other how much We Loved Each Other. I miss her
terribly. HUG YOUR LOVED ONES EVERY DAY AND TELL THEM HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM!

So sorry to hear that Dupage Lion. Prayers for your wife and family. It was great that the whole family was there for Thanksgiving and had a good time.

So sorry to hear this, Dupage. Brought tears to my eyes. My thoughts will be with you.

The courageousness of people at a time such as this never ceases to amaze me. I learn more and more from them each day and am better for it.

If society would quit trying to make us "think pink" all the time and focus on other types of cancer, maybe they could detect it sooner

8 years ago, both of my parents were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about 6 months apart. My mother’s was inoperable and she died within 3 months of diagnosis. However, my father had the mini whipple surgery followed by radiation and chemotherapy. At the age of nearly 80, he is still alive and doing great. He has surpassed all of the doctors’ expectations and is really an inspiration to other pancreatic cancer survivors. Really strange the huge variation in outcomes but you never know. Jefferson hospital in Philadelphia is a world class facility for this and we attend their annual symposium.

I’m happy to hear that your pop is one of the fortunate and I hope he continues to do well. So sorry about your mom as well. Please tell your dad that we salute his courage and his determination. I’m sure he is an outstanding gentleman.

? So if average people were not thinking about breast cancer all the time, perhaps they would dream up a cure for the Pank?

Are you as foolish as this sounds?

Thank you for posting.

I think that was a remarkable video. His attitude was inspiring. He faces great odds but he seemed upbeat and positive - as much as one can - as opposed to being solemn and incredibly distraught. The contract joke was a nice addition. I certainly wish him well in his fight.

God forbid I ever face circumstances like this. If i do, I promise myself that I'm going down fighting and laughing.
