OT: Anyone know anything about Sgt. Carter?

I liked his humorous input. Frankly, it makes no difference if I like his posts, or I detest his posts(like MTayl on TOS, or certain others here on this board), I am worried. I love every single fellow PSU fan, because we ALL bleed blue and white, agree or disagree, hate or love.

Even you Larry, with your four year rolling average, you too.
Nice. My feelings exactly.

Camp henderson is from the TV show.
Yeah, I was wondering about that. (Go ahead, laugh.) He was a big Cleveland booster so I always assumed that he lived in that area. Well, I'm sorry we weren't able to connect. A lot of posters had doubts about whether or not he was a true PSU fan or just a troll; I had my own questions about him before an extended exchange with him on the USC board convinced me otherwise. (Later, he was very vocal and very articulate in his anger about Joe being fired.) A lot of posters here hated him; he could be a piece of work but I never regretted the effort I put into engaging him. I remember one great thread where he and I kept trading great quotes from Robert Mitchum movies, Mitchum being his favorite actor. When people look back on the great days of the Thread View McAndrew board, they'll say, "Remember that miserable SOB Sgt. Carter? He was actually a pretty good egg."

On this Board there are individuals who stand out. They are the ones whose names instantly bring recognition and whose posts you remember, for better or worse. Sgt. Carter is one of those guys. I often disagree with what he says, but I never fail to read it. The New Year will be a better place if Sarge is still in it and I'm hoping we'll hear some good news soon.

Though Gomer was from Mayberry, NC, he somehow ended up at Camp Henderson.

from Wiki:
The premise of Gomer Pyle is similar to and perhaps inspired by Andy Griffith's movie No Time for Sergeants, which was based on the Mac Hyman novel of the same name.[32][33][34] Like Leonard's other shows, Gomer Pyle was character-driven; the main characters were "accessible" and "engaging", and the supporting characters were often eccentric.[35] In the show's pilot episode, Gomer, a gas-station attendant from Mayberry, joins the Marines. Gomer's naivete immediately exasperates his drill instructor, Gunnery Sergeant Carter (Frank Sutton). Interestingly, the Marines is the only branch of the U.S. military that addresses their enlisted personnel by their full rank. "Sergeant" Carter was only referred to as Gunnery Sergeant in the pilot episode; for the rest of the series, he was always mistakenly addressed as Sergeant. Originally situated in Camp Wilson in North Carolina, the setting was moved to the fictional Camp Henderson in California.[36] The show was a fish-out-of-water piece, which, like its contemporary The Beverly Hillbillies, featured rural characters out of their normal settings.[37][38] Like other comedies of the 1960s, the show avoided political commentary (especially concerning the Vietnam War) and focused instead on the predicaments that ensued from Gomer's unintentional breaking of the rules or sticking his foot in his mouth.[39][40]

This thread shows, in part, why I asked if any of you had any interaction with Sarge off the board, and knew where he actually lived. It was my take that Sarge liked to deflect, almost to the point of giving off misinformation, when folks tried to learn about him. I was never sure if that was his schtick, or if there was some other reason that he did it.

He was probably AWOL from the Marines....

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that the below links are about Sarge.

Thank you, Tom. Without taking the time to go through the obituaries carefully (I'm a little down right now), more than once Sarge had mentioned that he had a Master's degree from PSU but never mentioned anything about a BA. Rest in peace Kevin David Milus, aka Sgt.Carter. Cleveland and Penn State lost a big-time fan.

Doesn't look good guys.

I've indicated in prior situations like this that per Rivals' rules I can't disclose private info based on a person's Rivals' registration.

Did any of you communicate with Sarge off the board? If so, do you know which state he lived in? (Or, did he ever volunteer that info on the board?)

Tom, thanks for solving the puzzle, even with this sad ending. We all bring our own "unique" personalities to this Board and many of us as total strangers form friendships here that are every bit as important as if that person lived next door. The Sarge through his own personality brought a lot of smiles to the Board and he will be missed. Condolences to his friends and family. Sarge, I enjoyed knowing ya. I only wish I had known you better. May You Rest In Peace!

Nicely said.

Wow...sad....bad way to end 2015, which for me, can't end soon enough. RIP Sarge....I enjoyed your acerbic posts for the entertainment value, and learned a lot about hockey history.

Since the Sarge liked classy broads from the Old School, rather than the tramps of today, I'll send him out with this lovely Swedish lass. RIP Sarge.

Found some clues on a guestbook. For example, "He ... was probably the biggest Boston fan, not from Boston, ever!

He was a huge Bruins fan. A bleak day on the board.

Well done....I was thinking of Sarge just the other day when someone pointed out this beauty to me. I was not familiar with Jean Seberg. Sadley, she committed suicide at age 40. Part of her torment was that she sent money to various black american groups in the late 60's and as a result, was followed/black-balled/hounded by J. Edgar Hoover. If you get a chance to read up on her story, its is shocking how nuts the USA was at certain times. (university of Iowa product, BTW)

If the obituary was him he definitely put on quite a persona on the board. Racist Marine vet who was a fan of the Yankees Browns and Bruins, and PSU football. Quite a collection of teams.
