Do tell. Sarge was a bit of a mystery to many of us. I'd love to hear more about him.

RIP Sarge. I'll miss your thoughts, as well as the banter back and forth between you and Gomer Pyle USMC.
Like someone else on here said, I could never tell if what he said was part of a schtick or not. This board, much like any neighborhood bar, is many things to many people.....including a place to blow off steam. One could never tell with Sarge, but he was certainly one of our most unique people.

So terribly sad that "Sarge" passed at such an early age (nearly the same as me, which is scary). I loved some of his insights and, also, disagreed with a number as well. I would never have guessed him to be so young given his "alter ego" but, in retrospect (notice how I avoided the word "hindsight" ), I watched reruns of Gomer Pyle USMC every afternoon in the early '70's. Blessings to his family and may he rest in peace.

He used to email me often, when he was banned, asking to post his thoughts - and on which thread, which was often as well.
I used to tell him to calm down, just do your time, and you'll be back on the board.
I will spend some time and research any emails he sent to me and post them here as a tribute to him.
In his honor, I will root for his Bruins against my beloved boyhood team, the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow in the NHL Classic.
I hope one helluva Donny-brook breaks out just for him!
I will also attempt, in the future perhaps, to reach out to a surviving family member and let that person know just how much we miss him here on our little board community.

While these are his private thoughts expressed to me, I do not feel I'm violating his privacy since he (Sgt. Carter) was never one to hold back his feelings when he posted on this board. This, truth be told, often got him in trouble and suspended time and time again.

That's the thing about Sgt. Carter, it is impossible to post just a little when even he, when just posted a little blip, let it all hang out. He never held back. And that, as we all know, landed him in the 'sin-bin'. I told him that on several occasion.
RIP Sarge...sonnavabitch I'll be 53 in 2016. Too close. Like others have said, I loved and lol'd when Gomer Pyle would show up to antagonize Sarge...I used to love that show....

I have always thought that my well known dislike of the Flyers is the real reason these esteemed moderators are eager to banish me. I have serious health issues which came out of nowhere that I am dealing with and I cannot spend my energy on the ignorant moderators on the site. Perhaps as a favor you can mention the Bruins win in Philadelphia today.

The Sarge would have been against any undeserved penalties. 21 Guns merely pointed out that Sarge was a "mule". Sarge was a mule....he never let another poster get the "last word". Even Sarge would love to be labeled a mule.

Damn! So sad that we spend so much time with each other on this forum, and yet real life steals one of our more popular voices without any of us knowing about it for months. RIP Sarge...didn't know you personally but feel your loss all the same.
Sarge always had either a great one liner, or some kind of vague link to an old hockey fight, classic rock song, or hilarious youtube clip.
He challenged me to a fistfight once. I don't recall exact details. Franklin's mom was Italian I believe and I said something about how Italian coaches have had better luck here (after the Irish heritage O'Brien left of course). He took issue with it.
