My most surreal experience with the Daniel Boone show was watching it in Germany in 1973--on *East* Germany TV, which you could pick up, albeit only in B&W, on a West German set if you were close enough to the border (which Hannover was). I always wondered why a communist country would pick up a show that was so American and freedom oriented (though the US Old West was always big in Germany due to the Karl May stories (link)--and May was from Saxony--an area then in East Germany.

That stinks. I guess we all got to go sometime. I still enjoy old Daniel Boone reruns on TV. Didn't realize it was one of my favorites until I started watching again. Actually had completely forgotten about the show. Great actor, he played the part well.

All I can say is Daniel Boone was a man, yes a big man. With an eye like an eagle and as tall as a mountain was he.
