What number will you be wearing? I need to get my Xmas shopping done, and I’m sure Gambit Industries will have “fair” market value for its namesake’s jersey.

Your decision to declare for the draft had me motivated to follow suit.....until I saw this video. There's no way I can compete with that speed!
For context only, you should know that there are black men playing in the NFL. Any one of them might quietly pay for your lunch, something that you wouldn’t normally expect, black man and all that infers.
Ah, "artsie", I never once said I wouldn't expect it. I said "most white people" and specifically did not include myself.
I also said, for me, it adds context, which it does. I fact, yesterday I did a bit of a test. I saw a client in the grocery store that has expressed borderline racist statements in my presence on a number of occasions. We talked a bit about the coming holidays, and then I briefly relayed the story without mentioning the race of either party. He immediately injected race into it, assuming the young man paying was white. When I said, no "Jim", I forgot to mention, the young man paying was black, he was taken aback, and mumbled something I failed to understand. It was a teaching lesson, and would not have occurred had I not known the young man's skin color.
Now, that said, I am leaving this topic for good. I probably should not have responded and left my NFL draft thread to its original purpose.... a bit of levity. If you feel the need to respond to this post, please take it to the other thread. I will not read it there as I am not going back to it and so you can have the final word. Peace, artsandletters. I enjoy reading your posts (except for the last few) and will continue to do so. On this matter, we just disagree, or simply fail to understand each other.

I think you should play at least one year in college. How about Rutgers, the Harvard of the...I forget? I’m doing it and some of my friends decided to play for them. You are welcome to join us. We are over 50 but it will be fun. Let me know and I’ll tell the coach to get you a uni.
