This comes close to Boston for me. Great call.

One more....there were 3 or 4 "AOR" staples on here as well. Most weren't original songs though, if that matters to anyone. Doesn't matter to me.

how in the heck has no one included the strokes' "is this it"? -- is the average age like 65 on here?
A catchy song or 2 and Last Nite is a great composition from beginning to end, but those guys are total posers. Most of that album was a bore

Please correct me if this wasn't a debut. I am pretty sure it was and STUNNED that it hasn't been mentioned:

"Technically" it's a debut album, but a year before this came out, Fagen and Becker composed and recorded a soundtrack album called "You Gotta Walk It Like You Talk It". I'll find the link for you.

Jesus, those are some MAJOR great songwriters right there on that album. Say what you want about the style of the music, but those songwriters, most of them are in the songwriting hall of fame.

I was going to post this as well. I think Steely Dan peaked either with The Royal Scam or Aja.

Elvis Presley

Rock and roll

Didn't know it until I just googled it. Man I'm bored when I'm not working

jimmy was way before my time. only know the bigger hits from him. different strokes indeed
I'm a fellow lefty and Jimi carries the torch for all of us. Give a listen to Red House from his debut. Absolute genius but never played on the radio

Haven't had a good music discussion in some time - thoughts on 'best' debut albums of all time? I don't really know what I mean by 'best' either - significant, important, 'excellent' musically? Anyway, here are a few I think belong in the discussion...
