Sorry if discussed here before but I missed this show when it was first run (2014-2017). I started watching it Sunday night and finished season 1 last night. I was surprised to see that Rotten Tomatoes only rated the season a 6/10. I thought it was very well done and has me wanting more.

Has anyone here watched this or are watching it now? Being a piece of historical fiction I'm sure there are deviations from accuracy that Tom can illuminate.

excellent show. was recommended on here a while back I think when Grant came out and some historical fiction shows were being discussed. If you like that show, a one season show similar is Sons of Liberty about Sam Adams that is in the same vane.

I'm not sure if Culper Jr was introduced in season 1, but his story is fascinating. Nobody knew who it was until about the 1920's. His handwriting was matched with that of Robert Townsend's.

I started to get into it a while ago and remember when it was being advertised along with other premiere AMC shows like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. But, I found the first episode a bit tough to slog through (noting they're doing a lot of set up and worldbuilding). I'd like to get back into it at some point (my 'watch list' is longer than Saquon Barkley's broad jump) as I did think it was very well done and interesting. Tom chimed in about some of the accuracy of the show - I think he thought it was fairly accurate but did take some liberties.

Very good show and if not 100% historically accurate it is close enough and very intriguing regarding the importance it had for the Revolutionary War.

John Andre just slaying chicks for like 3 seasons.. It got a little off the rails at time but all and all enjoyable.. George Washington's Secret Six is a great book to fill in the rest of the story. (yes I heard Paul Harvey's voice when I typed that)

it's somewhat entertaining, but think of it more as entertainment than as history. It's basically historical fiction -- many of the characters are based on real people, most of the major events are based on real events, but there's quite a bit of liberties taken with history, and 99% of the dialogue is from the writing teams' imagination.

I believe I did write a detailed account of many of the inaccuracies in an earlier thread; don't have time to look for it now.
