OT: Sirius Radio

My understanding is that the Big Ten is negotiating with Sirius but nothing has been finalized yet.

I can’t listen to terrestrial radio! Its terrible. Love SiriusXM

I quit Sirius XM and haven't looked back. They're passing on the new 41% royalty fee hike straight to consumers and continually force you to call and haggle with them to get the best deal. I got tired of doing that and just stream my iTunes catalog, Pandora, Spotify, or whatever else I want for free.

Problem with that plan is most folks have data plans with caps and when you're pushing a 30+ minute commute twice a day streaming Pandora/Spotify can eat through your data pretty quick.

I bit the bullet a long time ago and bought the lifetime subscription to XM, which if you read the fine print, is not YOUR lifetime, it's the radio's lifetime. If you haggle enough, they'll charge you the transfer fee and be done with it. Pretty sure they don't offer lifetime subscription any more though.

No Big Ten Channel yet, but they do have Channel 30, “Freebird” Skynyrd Southern Rock Channel for the month of March and it kicks ass..... :D

Sirius XM is so much better than terrestrial radio. It's worth it for me. I can't stand listening to "morning zoo" radio shows anymore.

Yeah, I liked it but found myself really listening to maybe a half dozen channels all the time - NPR, Jazz, 80's, Current Hits, Lithium, and the College Sports station. And I hated having to call every six months to threaten to quit to get the lowest rate. They offered less than $5 a month when I kept insisting I would quit and while tempting, I knew I'd be calling back again for another round of haggling. Just hated it.

Love it. Loved it way more when Bill King was on in the morning. (Btw- when CJF was hired, Bill King said "he will have them (PSU) competing for a national championship in 5 years. Bill lives in Nashville and followed CJF at Vandy pretty closely.)

Funny thing is I listen almost exclusively to the NFL channel, and almost never watch a NFL game.
Rarely will I tune-in to the ESPNU channel. The only good people on that channel are two people I couldn't spell their name to save my life: Nueheisel and McAlwain.

Interesting. When did this royalty fee (aka "tariff") get passed on to us consumers? My bill hasn't changed in months. I have been a consumer for nearly a decade and haven't felt "forced" to do anything (let alone "continuously").
Secondly, how do you listen to PGA Tour Radio through the streaming applications you mention?

You are so right. I've been listening all week. Some great southern rock tunes taking me back to my PSU days. Wish this would become a permanent channel. I'll take this, they can have the Boss

I’ve been listening to BTN Chanel for years. I often listen to another football game when driving home from ours.

So, do I understand that there is a permanent Big Ten channel on Sirius XM? I typically listen to channel 84, which is college sports from all conferences. I’ve heard mentions on 84 about SEC specific channel, but not one for the Big Ten

So will I once Howard retires, but until then I’ll keep it. BabaBooey

Haven’t had it for a while, but absolutely Loved listening to Bill King. Is he completely off the air, or was he just moved to another time slot?
