Trumble falls to Pitzer, not sure what they do with Owen Trephan but imagine that should get Kerk the 3 if he loses to Gable.
It will come down to who is ranked higher in the coaches and RPI between Trephan and Kerk. Trephan will have win% and conference finish. H2H is split evenly. QW could be split as well. Trephan could likely get the 3.
Not denying the matrix could work in Trephan's favor but if Kerk is the 4, it gives way more leeway to move him to the 3. He's the returning champ with a loss to a guy everyone knows how good he is.
Also, the fact everyone knows Trephan is at Lehigh because he couldn't beat Trumble shouldn't be a factor but it's humans making these decisions.
Hard to believe Trephan would pass Kerk in the coaches poll. He might in RPI, currently Kerk 1, Trephan 4, but the numbers are really close, a Kerk loss might be enough to do that.
Quality Wins is gonna be real close. It looks like both have 7. Trephan might do better in opponent quality, having beaten Schultz. Hard to tell without doing that complex math.
I would hope the NCAA Committee would use their discretion to separate Kerk from Steveson. But wouldn't put any faith in them actually doing that.
All of this is moot when Kerk wins tonight.

That was a helluva reshot off the single leg defense. Strickenberger was dead to rights on a great shot by Spratley and the split second Spratley let go to switch off to a double, Strickenberger faced and reshot. Really great technique!
