Pa Supreme Court unseals documents AG Kathleen Kane sought to make public

Good question...that's a whole other can of worms that I'm sure fina factored in while desperately trying to keep these emails and his attachment to them hidden. A lot of lawyers in PA are most certainly getting some calls from their clients right now.

Frien may walk?

From the TribLive.com article:

October 2013: Special Agent Braden Cook devises a way to recover deleted OAG emails related to JS case to aid in the review.

aha so it wasn't the "regular" IT clowns . . .

There's at least one email that Fina sent with a joke about getting a girl's "consent" by duct taping her mouth shut.
If you were a rape victim who was trying to get justice in PA would that give you confidence in the OAG?

Stop making excuses for these guys.
I'd like to know where I made an excuse?

Pointing out some of the emails referenced are harmless isn't excusing everything. I'm pretty sure I said he deserves what's coming.

But don't let that get in the way.

Holy Cow, Randy Feathers shows up on a few of the threads. Now, doesn't that name ring a bell?

To quote Flounder - "Oh Boy! This is gonna be GREAT!"

This Randy Feathers?

"Operation Our Town" indeed - I hope this guy wasn't on the porno distribution list; if so, what a freaking hypocrite being part of OAG and on the Board of a Non-Profit called "Operation Our Town".

In the old days, the print media would have been all over this.

Nowadays, they can't do anything to risk advertising dollars or alienating political supporters.

There's nothing "harmless" about this email traffic.
I referred to a specific email. One that Kane used to insinuate there was child porn. There's plenty to hang him without it.

I've said he's done and he deserves it, what else do you want?

I don't think it's as horrific as some of you are making it out to be, but that doesn't excuse it. These are a 2015 version of raunchy/off color jokes. They don't belong in the workplace.

You are STILL minimizing it. Lawyers are public people. He was on the staff of the chief law enforcement officer in the state. He handled SEX CRIMES. Specifically some very famous sex crimes against children which you may have heard about. On the broad scale of all porn and all offensive images, these are not the worst out there. These are Penthouse, not hustler or a snuff magazine so far as I have heard. But THIS guy cannot have anything like that on his state owned computer during work time.

We wonder why the commonwealth has state agencies and prosecutors who look the other way. This is it. There's your culture problem, right there. And the racist tripe he received and forwarded? How Seth Williams hasn't fired him already is kind of shocking, but of course, Fina's got stuff on Seth too. That's how the scumbag operates.

Here's my read on the OAG and this "battle" that has been going on for some time. The PA OAG plays a significant political role. It's a tool or weapon used politically to keep the enemies/opponents at bay. These scandals are really a means of weakening the opposition so that the OAG's party can advance its own agenda in the PA government.

Most people are only viewing this as a prosecutor or police. It's not. It's a political tool or weapon and that is why both parties are fighting tooth and nail over this office.

As such, the PA GOP apparatchiks are using every means necessary to neutralize porngate and destroy Kane. If they can win this office back they can then employ more scandals to neutralize the Dem Gov.

Generally speaking, I believe you are correct.

What is unusual in this instance is that the sitting governor who is a "D", is asking the sitting AG who is also a "D" to resign.

Yes, but... and I don't know the answer... if she resigns, is there a special election, someone move up, or does the Governor get to appoint his own, hand picked, lackey? If the latter, he could have his own motives.

Yeah, because if they were both "R"s, we all know that this request would never be made.

Regardless of party, if the governor felt the AG was innocent, it's doubtful they would ask for a resignation.

It should be noted that the governor asked once, rather politely, and hasn't been heard from on this issue since. I suspect he will drop his request now.

He has publicly asked for her resignation more than that...

Most recently he asked her to resign on Tuesday, when visiting Pittsburgh.

The sitting Dem Gov is not a party politician. He doesn't no the game that is being played. He's a rookie.

Rest assured that if the GOP apparatchiks win this fight they will simply turn and use the office against said rookie Dem Gov.

Again, if he thought she was innocent, he wouldn't be asking for her resignation.

Wolf needs to let this battle play out. She's doing some good work (albeit very awkwardly) routing out bad apples in the judiciary and prosecution groups. It will take her down too. But he needs to let it play out. He's a fool for asking for her resignation. Right now, she has a dead career. So she has nothing to lose. So she can go out guns-blazing. And we need a political frontal assault to clean up the Commonwealth.

Randy was forced to resign over this a while ago. I always wondered why he didn't start throwing out names since I think they pretty much made him the sacrificial lamb.

And suffer being asked about it daily? LOL you are so politically naive. Yet you fancy yourself an expert. So many are the same as you, too: Forever wrong.

Where you guys expose yourself the most is at times like this: y'all don't wait even 24 hrs. before commencing to be wrong again.

I said he's done, he deserves it, and it doesn't belong in the workplace (something you yourself said in the second paragraph of your reply).

I'm not sure what else you want from me?

What you're seeing is technology's impact on society. Instead of crude language followed by an ignorant punchline it's a crude image followed by an ignorant punchline.

You can act like this proof of some greater problem if you want. The real problem lies with this feud between Kane and Fina. They've wasted resources on a petty vendetta instead of doing their jobs.

I think you are almost all the way there now. Glad to see that.

However, I do not agree it was a total waste of resources.

Fina needed going after. Still does.

Sully and LT just got out of their meeting:

"And....Point #2?"

"Sorry, that's all we got."

"Ms. Kane was charged with perjury, criminal conspiracy, obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, official oppression, and false swearing."

When does she get her day in court to defend herself against these criminal charges (there are actually 8 of them if I'm reading this correctly: http://montcopa.org/DocumentCenter/View/9514)?

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/07/u...neral-kathleen-kane-charged-in-leak-case.html

Her chance for that is not going to happen in Federal or State court. However, it will happens soon enough in County Court, or not.

Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams finally breaks silence and addresses #PornGate via twitter!

LOL.

So that's what Seth thinks this week has been all about?

Very interesting reveal.

Why in the world is he spending time responding to you and others on twitter? How's that review of Fina's emails gonna get done that way?

Seth's review of the porn emails and Barron's review of the Freeh report........both proceeding at break neck speed!

It is not harmless. Not when a top LE official does it. Sorry but that is just the case. In addition to trying to reduce the problem to a harmless little thing, you are also simultaneously trying to expand it to "everybody does it," with this post. Verbal rape jokes are just as NON-harmful as graphic ones.

Actually the greater problem here is your attitude that it is no big deal. That is truly unfortunate--if not for you then for any woman you happen to claim to care about.

IIRC, our own demlion warned him about that.
HAA! Honest to Christ I cannot believe he is the DA of a major American city. OTOH, it is officially no surprise now that he hired Frank Fina. Hey Seth, your top assistant is a porndog and a racist who makes fried chicken jokes about black men. If you don't respect yourself, nobody else is going to respect you.

I meant it shouldn't have taken all this to get here.

Carpenter stepped up and did what was right (unsealing everything). Now it's time for Williams to do the same(fire Fina). At least then you have a little bit of credibility restored.

I don't think they can go after Fina for anything criminal after the way Kane handled those that were still under her. He should definitely lose his job though.

No I'm not. How many times do I have to point out I was referring to a specific email Kane used as a political grenade?

She took a benign email and turned into something it wasn't when she already had more than enough to hang him on. That's BS.

Take your self righteous indignation and shove it. My point about technology was to illustrate this is nothing new. You can try and make this out to be something of great significance but it isn't. It's all too common.

I'm sorry if finding out a public official is a misogynist that enjoys racist jokes is shocking to you. It's not something I find surprising or get worked up about, outside of expecting it's dealt with accordingly. That's really all you can ask for.

I find fault in both Kane and Fina. I'm not going to ignore her lies just because Fina is scum. I'm going to call it like I see it: Fina deserves to be fired, period. Kane deserves to be judged on her actions and not some conspiracy theory.

Hold on there. You are, I think, referring to the earlier release of emails.

Indeed, that did raise some questions. But, we were reminded even then that there was more to it than that, were we not?

Seems to me that some emails were allowed to be released at the time and some had to be held. I don't think you can put that all on her shoulders.

I do not recall the exact sequence of event to be honest. But, I certainly was a bit confident that we were eventually gonna get to the hard stuff that was released yesterday.

I'm referring to something that was walked back by Kane's office after they first announced having the emails.

It wasn't specifically attached to a person and was just for shock value.

I obviously don't condone what's in those emails. I'm not going to lie, I'm not above looking at adult entertainment. What's in those emails isn't what I consider entertaining. The nature of it should have resulted in termination as soon as it was found.

At the same time, in my experience, it's not entirely surprising. That in no way excuses it, you just deal with it properly. In this case it's Seth Williams giving Fina two options, resign Friday morning or be fired Friday afternoon.
