PAC 12 tourney..

McKenna got himself into a bit of a pickle during the semi-final match. He was leading comfortably late in the third period but got caught in a six point move. Went to over time where he got the takedown in sv.

Nevills facing the only other unseeded wrestler in the finals....talk about a busted bracket!

Oh cra
What we have here is a failure to communicate. ....some men you just cant reach....
Oh crap sorry guys have my mind on Seth....Well it still would be nice to see both wrestling at Nationals....Hope he pulls the win out tonight so he moves on to Nationals....

I seriously doubt the family would be thrilled about that. I had to wrestle my twin brother once in the finals of a tournament. . Trust me, no one enjoyed it including the winner.
You weren't walking on each others backs (Moore brothers) were you?

Zach Nevills 3-9 entering the tournament and exits the tournament as a champion. Great run by Nevills! Final over Petersen (ASU) 7-6. Awesome last second reversal to win it.

Wow - what a way to end his college career! FYI - he was dealing with an injury for the first part of the season, so he wasn't getting as much mat time as he would have wanted. I also think he's one of those guys who seems to do his best in important tournaments.

You plan on being at the CA HS state tournament next weekend?

No, other plans for the weekend. It would be fun to see Mejia become the 2nd 4-time champ.

Awesome hope he wins....That would be weird wrestling your brother at Nationals but i bet the family would love it....

Spyker strikes again ...

So you managed to forget that Seth Nevills is still in high school, even though he is one of your MUST GET recruits?? o_O

I'll be there. I'll see what I can find out about PSU's up and coming recruits. Maybe Jake Varner will be there too. He grew up in Bakersfield. I saw him there 2 years ago with his family.

Usually families do their best to avoid it. I remember watching the sorias (wrestled for UB) in hs and every time they met up in a tournament they would flip a coin and the winner of the coin toss would advance. Their junior year they got paired up on the same side of state tournament and the winner of the coin flip ended up winning states.

I'd be kind of surprised if Varner was there. The Calif. States (CIF State Boys Wrestling Championships) are March 3 and March 4. The B1G Wrestling Championships are March 4 and March 5.

I am pissed that my kids NITs will be going on while the Big 10s are going on. I will rely on this board to keep me updated. i will keep you all updated on her team.:)

Yeah I totally forgot about the dates. Looks like I'm going to have to pick up the slack for pitching Penn State to the top guys!

...I think Spyker said he would be going to the Cal States and then hustling over to Bloomington on Saturday to help advise Cael ... :)

How do twins/brothers end up at different schools in high school?

They weren't, both wrestled for the same HS and went the same weight every year. Fun fact Rasheed actually beat one of them at sectionals and lost to the other in both the sectional and state finals his 7th grade year.

BTW, It seems Zach Nevills had a guest coach for the two weeks before his breakthrough--teammate Jim Wilson whose season the coaches ended by benching him and not letting him wrestle off:

Thanks for the link.

Is it safe to read into that post and assume it is unlikely Seth ends up at Stanford? PWilson made it seem like Zach had also been treated poorly while there. If true, surely there would have been some communication with the family about it.

Not that I have any reason to doubt Wilson's dad, but I wonder if this is the whole story. It rarely is. Seems crazy that an AA wouldn't even be given an opportunity to get his spot back.
