Patiently waiting for Martinez vs Nolf

He does look great, but he has 3 years in the Big Ten going and against Nolf, and Micah Jordan, If he can go undefeated wrestling those 2 for multiple times each year than he will deserve to be compared to Cael Sanderson!!!

Nolf won't be a career 157...As for IMar, not sure where he ends up , so perhaps they are only at the same weight 1 year or maybe they both slide up.. Either way, BoJo will be around too. Going to be some classic meetings.

My hopes are high,

but it's going to be interesting. We sometimes have a tendency to expect more than is reasonable from a new face.

Tell you what, 157 was stacked this year. I rate Martinez ahead of where Ruth, DT, Dake or Stieber were at this point in their career. If Nolf is hanging with him, things are looking good.

Nolf has one advantage that may explain his success at The Scuffle and overall this year.....he was training against a former All-American "in the room" on a daily basis leading up to The Scuffle. Nolf getting to wrestle against Dylan Alton every day of his trFR year likely ramped him up the "experience curve" and probably paid big dividends for him. Remember, Dylan looked pretty darn good when he first came back this year and only looked like a shell of himself after dislocating his shoulder in the Purdue Dual. I believe Brian Realbuto was 23-0 going into the NCAA Finals versus non-PSU wrestlers and was 23-2 overall going into the NCAA Finals losing to both Jason Nolf and Dylan Alton at the Southern Scuffle....

IMO, Nolf getting to go against Dylan Alton on a daily basis leading up to the Southern Scuffle likely "accelerated" his development and it showed at The Scuffle. Nolf went 16-1 and took 2nd Place at the Southern Scuffle his trFR year.....pretty damn impressive for a TRUE FRESHMAN during his redshirt year (easily as impressive as IMar's "true freshman" year when he redshited while he physically matured and developed in a college "wrestling room"). I disagree with some that it is unreasonable to expect continued development his SOPHOMORE rsFR year just as IMar did.....

We will have to agree to disagree on that one

Now that gave me a chuckle, Mark Perry for Im training partner is not as good as a Alton.
Perry was only a 4 time AA with 2 nationals titles. Like Taylor he only lost 2 times in the four years at nationals.
So I believe IM is in good hands..
Also Perry will be the next head coach at Illinois and that guy can recurit he didn't spend those years at Cal Poly for nothing he knows California well also.

Huh? Your post is what is chuckle-worthy....where precisely did I say that IMar didn't have good coaching and development during his "true freshman" red-shirt season? Nolf's true freshman redshirt year was extremely impressive 16-1 with his only loss coming at the Southern Scuffle where he lost by a 7-4 DEC in the finals to a returning NCAA All-American who had finished 3rd at the 2014 NCAAs. Have no clue what your post is supposed to even remotely mean - nowhere was I critical of the coaching or development that IMar had his true freshman season.

Well u didn't put in exact words that Im didn't have a good coach or work out partner but u did say that what Nolf improve was because he had Alton to work out with.

Now all I said read this slowly, "that in my opinion IM had and will have Mark Perry to work out with for 3 years and I just feel that Perry is a better work out partner than Alton so maybe that is the reason he is what he is"

Really simple

It is very simple you could have Nolf work out with Alton forever and he would never give IM what Mark Perry will.

Hey, I just said that as well...only about a minute earlier. At least it means I may be on the right track. ;-)

I was also looking at Dapper Dan results and IMar wrestled our own Cody Law at 160 in 2013 majoring him 20-8 per wrestlingclass.com .

Make me think 2 things.

1. IMar is probably 157 for the balance of his NCAA career.

2. IMar may not be far ahead of Nolf as Jason beat Law 21-8 in Dec 2014. That doesn't make IMar and Jason equal (especially since IMar has a title) but it is food for thought.

Yes, no doubt. Nowhere did I say that IMar did not have great opportunities to develop "in the room" during his "true freshman" redshirt year - nowhere....Minnhawkeye is a bit "unstable" as evidenced by his belief that the guy who just recorded the 165 lb NCAA Championship this past w/e actually wrestled @ 57 all season and will be moved by the coaches at OSU to 65 next year to make room for rsFR phenom CM @ 57 who is coming off his true freshman redshirt season??????????

In any event, yes coaches and Club Wrestlers do wrestle with members of the Collegiate Team they are associated with, but there is no way that they wrestle with individuals "in the room" nearly as much as members of the team wrestle with each other....including "wrestle offs", etc... My point was that Jason Nolf almost certainly benefited from wrestling with DA on an every-day constant basis heading into the 2015 Season and the Southern Scuffle - he would have also benefited from occasionally training with David Taylor or even Cody Sanderson "in the room". I'm not sure how saying that Jason Nolf likely benefited from being able to train and compete with DA at 57 on an every-day basis during his "true freshman" redshirt year (or that it likely contributed positively to Nolf's ability to go 16-1 with his only loss coming in the finals of the Southern Scuffle) is an "insult" to IMar or the development and training he received during his true freshman season in 2014, but apparently - according to minnhawkeye - it most definitely is..... All's I can say to this absurd nonsense is....whatever dude....

Sorry Bushwood CC the Okie State wrestler was ranked number one all year at 165.
He wrestled 157 last year ..Maybe it was just a typo by you.

Too funny....nope, sorry, no typo on my part - since your short-term memory is clearly failing, here is a link to one of your many absurdities that I referenced (as evidenced by the responses it immediately drew):
