PD3 Gets an article dedicated to him on FLO

Considering his recent trip to vegas and all his chatter about MMA, I am getting the sense he may not wrestle for ISU again.

Earlier this week Junior World silver medalist and NJCAA national champion, Patrick Downey, announced via Twitter that he would continue his wrestling career at Iowa State University. Downey spoke with us about his journey from Maryland to Iowa and what his goals are at the Division I level.
To stun the world!

He is still in the mix, just needs to apply himself.
In his first year with IS, the 2015-16 season, Downey served as the 197-pounder and wrestled to an 11-4 record. He went on to finish third at the Big 12 Championships, earning him an automatic bid to his first Division I NCAA championship at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

An unseeded Downey lit up the 197-pound weight class in the Big Apple, taking out four ranked opponents to finish with All-American honors.

His performance was highlighted by a round-of-16 tie-breaker pin over No. 6 Jared Haught of Virginia Tech. In the fifth-place bout, he tallied another pin over Haught. He also knocked off No. 11 Phil Wellington of Ohio and No. 7 Brett Harner of Princeton.

He made a name for himself at 197 pounds with that fifth-place NCAA finish.

PD2? Is that you? Actually, I know better. Your message is too factual and level-headed for PD2.

PD3 is actually all things considered a respectably talented wrestler.

The only issue is that he is better than Kyle Snyder in his own mind and he tells the whole twitter world about his delusions of grandeur constantly.

Rumors going around that PD3 has been suspended for the rest of the year and told he's not returning to the team next year.

Don't know if that's true, but guessing that's the cause of Dunk's comment.

Can't say I know the whole story. Accountability and responsibility for one's actions can be a real kick-in-the-pants though...and some (many?) never learn.

It looks as though PD2 deserved this but I sure wished he could have held on for a few more weeks. He's talented and I really was curious how he'd stack up against Dean, Nickal and the top guys at the weight. He wasn't afraid to put it out there....excited to see if he could produce.

Sometimes I read his twitter feed and I wonder if the self destruction wasnt actually planned all along. I mean his rants are EPIC fails for so many reasons. So many jumping off points for him but yet he kept going back without remorse, consideration for others, understanding of the situation, etc, etc.

You're on point calling that one!

Plan seems obvious: complete his degree while still on scholarship (hence tweets about summer school). Retire after an undefeated season, go directly into MMA, do not pass Go, do not collect $200. Instant bad guy heat, and he clearly has talent. One hitch, he can't handle The Ruth.

Is it me or is he like a train wreck, you know it's awful but you cannot look away. Really wish he had a chance to wrestle just to see him lose and come up with another excuse as to why.
Fat chick in a bikini on a moped comes to mind.

Probably not the top guys on the UFC roster either

I doubt PD2-3 has put that much thought into it. I think they were just doing what came naturally.
