Peach Bowl

Do you think USC and UCLA would be coming if OSU and UM weren't in the conference?
They would not. Ignore them....half of our fan base truly believes we should leave the Big Ten for the ACC. They're delusional. College football is a business nothing more. Michigan and Ohio State being successful is good for Penn State. Just as a strong Penn State is good for Ohio State and Michigan. We all know it even if some won't admit it.

Bowl games mean nothing
LOL. SEC is 11-8 against the power 4 conferences with losing records against all conferences but the big 12. Clearly the best conference. LOL.

Wait, I guess the regular season is also meaningless, right. SEC being the "best" conference is propaganda.

They are the best conference at the top almost every year and no one disputes this. Who do you possibly think is better?

Whoever you may say loses to the SEC in the important games year after year.

Ok. Their top team may be the best but the general statement that the SEC is best is simply false. After their top team or 2 they are no different than any other conference. Today their best almost, maybe should have, lost to a team that didn't even win their division and shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Look at it this way. Without UM and OSU the B1G is not the respected football conference it is.
It’s funny that you think the Big Ten is respected for football. Might want to get outside the Midwest a little more often. ;)

The SEC is very top heavy. Bama being usually at the top. Recently replaced with Georgia. Tennessee and LSU were good this year. Can they sustain it?

Overall though, as you said, they're not significantly better than any other power conference. Top to bottom, I'd rank the BIG ahead of them.

2 of the 4 CFP teams were Big Ten. Respect in college football now equals money and the Big Ten is raking it in and PSU is getting its share while also contributing. The powers that be on the west coast now seem to think the Big 10 is the place to be. Look for Oregon and Washington to come in soon. Maybe we define the word "respect" differently.

Go find a buckeye board, sport.

Part of the reason Stroud looked great on most plays is because the refs didnt call any holding. There were multiple blatant holds (and I know there are in every game) but you cant just allow those plays the whole game so the QB can run crazy all over the place. Everyone loves scoring but thats too much. The calls have to tighten up. Just watch our game and see whats called to affect the game negatively.

I honestly dont care who wins the CFP but I'm thrilled that those 2 piece of crap teams are out. I dont subscribe to the "root for the conference" mindset, as you can never as a PS fan root for either of those deplorable teams.

I would go further and argue that the reason Michigan and Ohio St almost always fall short on the national stage lately is that they EXPECT to get the calls to bail them out in conference. They get saved a loss at least once or twice in conference by the referines EVERY YEAR now. Then they go play in the playoffs where they play a team that isn't going to have to play against the referines as well.

If the big 10 wants Michigan and Ohio St to stop losing every playoff opportunity then the big 10 needs to let them make it on their own in conference without officiating help so they can learn to overcome adversity without biased officiating. Until then, expect more of the same.

They're just maintaining a Michigan tradition, losing. Six lost bowl games in a row and 13 out of the last 16. Get them out of the Big and reality sets in.

I was at the game tonight with my brother. The Buckeyes can hold their heads high and be proud of that effort. It was a brutal way to lose, but they played a great game. Stroud is the real deal.
No moral victories in Columbus. You win or you lose. They now have to go 8 months with the bitter taste of defeat at the hands of scUM and UGA. It will be very hard for that fan base. This was to be the year but the defense was not good and I suspect big changes will occur.

What conference is better? The Big Ten had 3 good teams

I guess honest discussion is not appreciated by some here. Whatever. I don't do the OSU boards because they are pay to play.

Ohio State played a great game and lost a heartbreaker.

But you have to understand something: Penn State has been screwed over by this conference so many times since we joined that a lot of us hate both the league and its two Sacred Cows.

If we'd gotten an even break over the years, I would have been rooting for Ohio State yesterday...and maybe Michigan too. As it is, however, I root against them at all times and in all places. And if they can lose the way they did, all the better. Two of them take the L on the same day for the same high stakes...great way to start the New Year.

No offense to you personally, as you seem to be an intelligent poster, but that's just the way it is. If the shoe were on the other foot, I suspect you might feel the same way.

If all 14 teams in the BIG made it to a bowl. I'd root for a 12-2 record as long as the 2 losses were Michigan and OSU.

Of course you would--you can't accept they're currently better than us so you've created false reality where they're handed everything

You root for OSU and Mich Lando? Tf?
I don't root for either. My goal is to get to their level and then get to Georgia's level. The majority of this board wants them to fall apart. It's a loser's mentality.
The only team I like in the playoff was Georgia but I'm also not stupid. All that will be talked about heading into 2023 is how the Big Ten lost both playoff games including one the were favored in--that hurts us when we're looking to get a bid. Especially when the playoff expands.
We all know both those programs (and coaches) are better than our's right now. And it's not exactly close either.

Rooting for them to not win a NC is in PSU's best interest.

I don't like either team cause they are 2 arrogant asshole teams who get every benefit from the conference even at the expense of its other teams. Piss on them and the BIG leadership. And piss on anyone who supports them and the conference leadership.

You dont have to like a team to comprehend how their success benefits us. You can be happy Georgia won still accepting that's not good for us. We're part of the conference...your last two statements indicate you don't grasp that yet.

He roots for Ohio State and so do a couple others that pretend to be fans of other schools including that Ohio St fan that comes on here pretending to be a delusional Michigan fan.

There are a couple of Michigan fans here as well, easy to spot like Ole Ted and the clown who predicted 7-5 for PSU and then later claimed he was right when PSU finished 10-2 because some teams we played weren't as good as he thought. These people are trolls and it's best not to even respond to them.

Yet I said 10-2 and will say 10-2 next year. You think everyone that doesn't drink the Kool-aid isn't a real fan. It's insane honestly.
And again Georgia winning last night sucks for Penn State and the Big Ten but I enjoyed watching the kids sail wide even though it wasn't in our best interest

LC, I agree with many of your posts, but absolutely NOT this one. UM and OSU are the (sports) ENEMY! No PSU supporter should ever hope for their success. I don’t want to leave the Big Ten - I want to dominate it. In order for that to happen, UM and OSU must be brought down! There are 2 ways that could happen: 1. We get better than both - not happening under this Head Coach, he’s had his chances, and has blown them. No, I’m not advocating firing/replacing - merely stating the fact that PSU will never be a dominant team under his leadership. 2. UM and OSU get worse - not likely, but a better chance than 1.

I‘ll take either choice or preferably both. Conference pride is bovine scatorum - I want UM and OSU to lose often, and in everything. A new king cannot ascend to the throne until the old is/are dethroned.

If we were in a level playing field, I would want PSU to get better and play up to Michigan and OSU level. But when every on and off the field call goes their way, it just can't happen. The conference won't allow it.

I want PSU to win more. I want UM and OSU to lose more. Now, the best and most direct way to achieve those two outcomes is for PSU to defeat UM and OSU. Unfortunately, we have a Head Coach and staff (in whatever configuration over the past 9 seasons) that are singularity awful in that endeavor (4-14). Since this established fact isn’t likely to change, sadly, we’re left hoping UM and OSU lose more.

I agree with that. And that is at least something that PSU (Athletic Dept) can control and make the changes needed, if so desired.
